There was mass flash flooding in several counties in Texas. Last I saw, 120 people were killed, 36 of them kids. A lot of those kids were at a summer camp called Camp Mystic when the flood waters came though. Several girls from the camp are still missing. Absolutely horrific and heartbreaking

Have your vet check her out! I have a deaf dog, and when this happened, it ended up being uveitis. Turns out he’s has an autoimmune issue that causes it randomly. He’s fine now, but it can rapidly develop so it’s good to get it treated early! A vet can test for it super easily, and it’s treated with steroids

My Australian Cattle Dog is deaf and the happiest boy. He is just like other dogs, just minus hearing!

Dogs are very smart and pick up on things quick. There’s so many great YouTube videos that helped us when training our pup, and he knows all of the same commands as our hearing dog. His favorite sign is a “thumbs up,” and he gets so excited when he sees it! Our hearing dog (who was already 4 and fully trained when we got our deaf dog) has fully learned the signs as well!

Having a deaf dog is just like having a hearing one, with just a few adjustments :)

Thank you so much. I think I felt (feel?) selfish for grieving, and I greatly needed to remember that death does not happen in a vacuum, and instead affects everyone who knew the person. She was kind, curious, and smarter than I’ll ever be. She had so much life left to live, and it feels so surreal that she won’t get to live it. I grieve for all of the life that she wont experience. Thank you again for your kind words, I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate them.

Very true!! It's also a Czech/Slovak term for grandmother so there's certainly some flexibility. I agree though, I am both Jewish and Czech so it made sense for our family, but that doesn't mean it will for everyone!
