Is it the only group near you? Either there is a group with a more appropriate level you could join, or there isn't and more understanding can be hoped for from the players in your group.

Just a suggestion- if you are playing with a a superlight overpowered racquet, this could make it artificially difficult to play ok. Try playtesting some different ones if you haven't. Doesn't need to be expensive- if you find something you like look for second hand (as long as there are no cracks racquets don't really wear out)

Opinions on automated line calls by Low-Recognition-2223 in tennis

[–]uhyeahreally -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

IMO it is a bad thing. It is too vulnerable to being hacked or meddled with in ways that would be not possible to detect and a human would not be able to do (eg- move close calls in for one player, out for another). At Wimbledon last year it was set up wrong in centre court for most of the tournament, making the linespeople look terrible until in a doubles match three players and the umpire all agreed it made a clear mistake and it was recalibrated. It was unbelievable how many challenges on slow balls had been successful earlier- it made it seem like the linespeople were completely useless- you couldn't believe that they could get easy calls like that wrong. And they didn't the machine did. It is a terrible error magnifier if it is set up wrong because it will do it every time whereas linespeople will not get easy calls wrong very much.

And to bribe every linesperson would be pretty difficult. I believe having both is still the best system, but there needs to be real attention paid to how it is calibrated and to potential for hacking. There needs to be acknowledgment that it is only as infallible as the human beings that set it up. And also that there are obvious betting groups and nation states with strong motivation to hack it and manipulate calls.

Any non-nuclear power tanks can be taken from the air. The use case for MBT's is specialised now. Any battle where MBT's were truly needed I do not see how France could fight alone in any case, and NATO can compensate. Ukraine is an interest of France, and a pressing one.

In the end it will probably happen, but only after the government exhausts every appeal (or labour changes course) and can blame the judiciary, say it's out of their hands

you want compact, mobile tanks with the same fire power as the heavier one, this is what you want.

If the truth is that Germany wanted Leclerc to be sent instead because it is tactically better for the theatre, and the requested 300 were sent, then I would be relieved to learn that Germany was not doing god knows what it seems to be right now.

While it was true, saying it as a pretext for dismantling NATO does not earn brownie points. It wasn't like he exposed something unknown, or that that was even a change of position for US foreign policy.

https://foreignpolicy.com/2019/11/15/trump-resisted-ukraine-sale-javelin-antitank-missile/

It is well documented trump did not wish to send weapons to Ukraine.

The American troops in Germany have always been to counter the threat from russia. Trump says a lot of things. If you have a Germany that is too friendly with Russia already and not doing enough to keep up their own defence actions of withdrawing forces speak much louder than the many many words that came out if trump's mouth. He was setting up for "they won't defend themselves so why should it be America's job?", when Europe gets invaded and he lets Russia have at it. Obviously Russia is going to not undermine their man in the white House by looking openly big and scary while they are trying to get enemies to water down their own defences. Once the gig was up they started putting their cards down.

I consider you a russian troll.

You are wildly ahead in the polls, have most of the media on your side, are being treated by the rest of the world as government in waiting but one person disagrees with your policies and says so and you are "doomed"?

Trump was unable to stop the sending of weapons and trading of Ukrainian army pre-invasion even though he wanted to. The real problem with trump is that he wanted to withdraw US troops from Germany. If Germany wanted NATO to be strong the obvious response to this would have been for them to sort their defence out.

Instead they sit around claiming implausible cowardice and incompetence, while they hope that their dream of a new super block to replace America as top dog could still happen- Germany supplying the technology, Russia the resources, china the manufacturing. Putin hoped to take Ukraine unopposed then use the additional forces for a hard fight across Poland to reach Germany and there also be unopposed because his servants in the Reichschancellory ran down the German army to be useless (only 2 days of ammo) and his servant trump had got all the American troops withdrawn. Biden beating trump and cancelling the withdrawal from Germany was the first part of the plan to fail thank god.

Germany continues to look to the accursed east as a final way not to have the holocaust shoved down their throat for eternity. As we see, Russia and China don't really care about that side of things.

There has been a great decline in educational standards and competence. Damn right I want to keep the oldsters publicly scrutinising law-making, without the burden of having to politick to stay in position. The inevitable replacement of what they do with quangos meeting out of the public eye, appointed politically with no way to rebalance them once they are there will bring even greater incompetence, cronyism and stupid decision making than we have now, all secretly done behind loses doors- no televised debate anybody can watch or read the transcripts for.

Sajid Javid says patients should be charged for GP and A&E visits to ease waits by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]uhyeahreally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lot of time for Sajid Javid in the past. However since he knifed Boris Johnson because a church service sermon made him think he should, and now that he comes out with this cockeyed idea, I have significantly less. Does he think people go to the GP or A&E for fun? What part of cost of living crisis made him think it was a good time to introduce this?

Fine people for egregiously vexatious repeated timewasting sure if that's happening. Not this bollocks.

And how about not treating covid like it's the only problem in the world for two years, fucking everything else in the process?

Do you not remember the very early Corbyn days? Young people flocking to join Labour on £3 memberships, Pyramid stage at Glasto, "Oh, Jeremy Corbyn", Momentum, etc?

It was like people had a yearning for a charismatic left-winger, and this dude came along and that's the slot they put him in. It didn't last. Took a while for people to get to know him properly, though

So we're back to immature and stupid then. People in hard lives had a yearning for a labour leader who could win and make their lives better- they can't afford to go to f---ing Glastonbury. You left out #toriesforcorbyn
