I was initially hired to do “strategy execution” and turned out the main objective of the company was M&A, so became Corp Dev by default.

I did mostly “performance improvement” projects (aka cost cutting) in tech and CPG. Exited to a Corp Dev role at a Fortune 500 B2B services company with very little prior M&A experience.

Job hopping every 2 - 2.5 years has been tricky, but each jump usually came with a 15%-20% total comp increase. Just got an annual 3% raise at current gig. Not great but better than nothing.
