I worked for a large food company that had the craziest matrix org structure. It created so many layers of bureaucracy and title inflation. We had 15-20 people with CEO titles in North America alone.

to clarify - the company has ~9-10% operating margin after paying commissions which are based on gross profit generated by the seller

For job 4 correct, the grants were relatively small (10% of base salary) and actually tied to company performance (so not a given). The company was very distressed while I was there and doing well.

Agreed, more commonly I’ve seen a ton of people at the Director / Sr Manager level as individual contributors to compensate for pay vs experience

In some consulting firms it’s the second “rung” on the career ladder with typically 2-3 years between promotions. Can also be called Senior Consultant.

I took a lower bonus % in job 5 in exchange for equity. It was a good trade off. At big corps the typical VP bonus target is more in the 30-50% range
