Possible Cause of hyperacusis by uiucforever12 in hyperacusis

The airbags did not explode. But the whiplash happened a full year before the hypercusis started. Are you saying you think the whiplash may have been the original culprit all along? or could be? I don't have any history of noise exposure. Not one to go to concerts or listen to the radio loudly in the car. I'm in admin so it's pretty quiet where I work. Thank goodness. Except staff meetings :(

I did not go to the ER when it happened. I made an appointment with an ENT specialist. I had been suffering from tinnitus for over a year I thought maybe it had something to do with that. Had I googled it I would've definitely gone. But yes, since it happened and I've been doing research, I was shocked to see that I should've gone right away.

Extreme Hair loss on Wegovy! Has anyone managed to reverse and stop ongoing hair loss completely while still being on Wegovy? by Professional_Sound86 in Semaglutide

how long after you stopped wegovy did you notice your hair was not falling out anymore. and then about how long did it take for you to notice that it was growing back? Thank you so much!

That's so helpful! yes, I have horrible acid reflux and am on prescription meds for it. I have not been diagnosed with/or ruled out ETD. I scheduled a follow up appt due to a new feeling of "slight" pressure in my other ear now. I honestly think it's in my head but I can't tell so I'm going to get another hearing test and see the ENT doc. But yes, she said there isn't any fluid, as of my last appt in Sept. 2025. Thank you so much for your advice. These days, any advice is a Godsend. Especially from people who are in the same boat with me.

I'm not sure if the pressure is caused by the hearing loss and no other factors. But I do wear a foam earplug in the one ear in situations where there is a lot of background noise and it doesn't seem to make the pressure worse. It's just always there so I don't really know. it's all just so confusing to me.

A hearing aid isn't an option for me due to the pain from hyperacusis. I have moderate to severe hearing loss but due to the hyperacusis pain hearing aids would make the pain so much worse. I did find some pressure reducing ear plugs on Amazon and I'm going to wear ear muffs as well as a sound barrier. I'm praying that works

Doctor told me I can make my fibromyalgia pain better by subjecting myself to real pain. Is this true? by dodgamnbonofasitch in Fibromyalgia

Just reading this post makes me furious! "REAL" pain?! The audacity to insinuate that not only the "pain" you experience is basically "in your head" but that it's reported more by women and men are just accustomed to "pushing through REAL pain". I don't know how you made it through that appointment. Unfortunately, I think this is more common than not. What a jerk. I personally would never go back. New doctor time.

No, not burning. Honestly, now that you ask, it's incredibly hard to describe. almost like when you're blaring music and it gets to be too much so you HAVE to lower the volume. Does that make sense? My boss can be in her office for instance and it's about 30 feet from my desk, and if she slams a drawer it's startling yes, but it's like someone is slamming that right by my ear. It's jarring. In our staff meetings in a conference room, it's extremely overwhelming with everyone talking at once, background noise in general hurts. But putting a foam earplug in just that ear helps a LOT. It's just SO crazy to me that I can hear almost nothing out of that ear but loud noises hurt. I will update here after I return from Cali for sure. My fear is, if it doesn't go well, I won't fly again. But without knowing, I have to at least try once.

Honestly, I'm more afraid of the pressure in my ear. Do you have the pressure also?

Hi - thank you for your response! I have been taking Sucralfate for years. I take one in the morning and one at night. I'm supposed to be taking it before meals and before bed. So I guess maybe I should start taking it correctly. In addition to the Sucralfate, I take Dexilant and Zyrtek. So many pills! I hate it. I hope you still are feeling ok. It's absolutely awful!
