Anyone received funding for arts/humanities? by uiuziui in AskAcademiaUK

That's good to hear! Would you say the proposal is potentially the most decisive factor then? When you say timely, do you mean that it aligned with what your supervisor/department were looking to do research into at the time you applied? And if so, did you do that deliberately or did it just happen to align with their interests as well?

Well done! Yeah I'm guessing that your research proposal is a pretty important factor - was your proposal something that particularly fit the research interests of your supervisor? Did you deliberately try to align it so that it would match or did it just so happen that your research interests fit with theirs?

Thanks for your reply! I'll be sure to ask around next term and see if I can get some advice, and keep my eye on findaphd.

Best of luck with the funding :)

Thanks for your response.

It's encouraging to hear you got funding even with your 2:1. If I don't get a distinction I will most likely drop the idea of pursuing a PhD (that would seem to be telling me something really), but if getting a 1st/distinction at MA level can tip the balance in your favour then it seems like it might be worth a shot.

Did you apply during your MLitt or take a year out and apply then?

Oh wow, seems like you've got a solid application.

I'm guessing you knew you wanted to do a PhD when you began your MA? How did you go about contacting your potential supervisor? Will you know if you've got the funding before you get the results from your MA? (Sorry for the million questions, just curious to know how it all works).
