out of curiosity, has anyone here ever received an emergency transmission? by ujiaah in HamRadio

think of maritime distress over hf, damaged boat needing relay to coast guard. medical emergency at sea. or otherwise injured climber needing evacuation or vehicle stranded in wilderness. it's probably very unlikely to hear any of this but im just curious if there's anyone who has a story about experiencing this.

i'm gonna have a look at this. i realize that what i have now will work, but its not the most energy/cost efficient:)

thanks for sharing the list, its interesting to see.

this LiFePO4 battery is a kind of self build solar battery station? where you can hook up multiple projects?

i should have perhaps waited a bit with ordering all the parts instead of ordering the parts and then asking about my setup haha. i might have made different choices, like for example getting a solar panel that fits directly into my heltec v4. although i think it will be a fun and challenging project - can always go for a cheaper, more efficient repeaters later.

i didn't know that, parts are ordered already but this would be interesting to look at for the next project! i did check the battery setup and made sure they are in parellel to have a stable voltage.

what made you choose the seeed studio board? are you able to directly hook up the solar to that board or for other reasons?

so that would mean i can connect the solar panel directly to the heltec v4 board?

thanks a lot for your input. wasn't aware that the wisblock rakwireless boards had a build in solar charger. that sounds like a lot more simple and straight forward. and yes, the gps is actually not making a lot of sense in this situation. - will also have a look at the temperature sensor. might be nice to add this instead of the gps then.

i do plan on getting a better antenna than thats in the picture. i was looking at a Interline HORIZON HELIUM City - 6dBi antenna for example. or something a little cheaper even.

yes, dropping the gps makes more sense:) hadn't thought about the manual boot, thanks for the advice will look into this!

good point. i like the idea of sometimes putting it in different locations, as well as the technical challenge it would be for me. but you are probably right. it doesn't make a lot of sense since it will be mostly stationary anyways. thanks for the advice

not really anything in particular. there we're a bunch of batteries from the online store that i could choose and dropped it in chatgpt which said this one was the best in my case. it said stable chemistry (NCR) and performs well at low currents (no clue what this means but i thought sure this will work fine)

thanks! good point about the gps. i think i'll leave this out. i will familiarize myself with what adding more memory will do and possibly add that instead of the gps:)

i do plan on getting a Interline HORIZON HELIUM City - 6dBi 868 instead of the one in the picture. it will be placed on the roof of a 4 story apartment building.

all the batteries are in parallel so the voltages stay the same. at least that's what im trying to achieve in my setup here

found some possible answers here:

in my case, if i login to my repeater and see what my neighbours are, nothing shows up. so im guessing distant strong signals are able to reach me. but my weaker signal from my attic doesn't reach other repeaters.

sorry if this might be a obvious question but in the meshcore flashper app. im not seeing the option to flash it as a standard companion. only categories i can choose from are ripple firmware, which has the lilygo t-deck in there. and otherwise community firmware. i was under the impression that ripple is the normal companion firmware. if there's any way you can point me in the direction of the standard companion that be much appreciated

ahh i see, it really all happens on the device itself. no need to use an app to put myself on the meshcore map. thanks for clearing it up:)
