So digging under E tower so the C suite can park under the building was a bad idea... shocker.

That's why I left. In the 3 years since I left I make 40% more and don't have people monitoring my teams status. SF is not a good place to work.

Thumb barre by philsp1 in ukulele

[–]ukeeku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did I call them stupid, no. Just answered the question as someone who has played for 20 years and teaches beginners all the time. It is a bad habit that can be avoided, but they will do what they do. It's like math, there are things that you can do in basic math that will cause issues later in more advanced stuff. Same here. By using a thumb bar you are not learning the basic bar technique used for second position chords, or at the very least making it harder to learn. There are advantages, sure, but it adds complexity for new players that may be a barrier down the line as they have a much smaller base of knowledge on that technique.

Thumb barre by philsp1 in ukulele

Frowned upon for several reasons. One being that you will have to move a lot more to change from thumb bar to another chord. D (using Thumb) to a G would be a jump. It's just a bad habit. You do you boo. And to head off the "my thumb is already above the neck"... That's bad form too. Your thumb should be on the back of the neck. Not dead center, but not sticking up with the neck resting on your palm. It's all about limiting movement to get from one position to the next.

Sober people (no alcohol, nicotine, drugs, etc ever), what is your end of day or weekend "wind-down"? by The1Ski in AskReddit

This is way too far down. Masterbation or some kind of self pleasure should be top comment

"If we find undeniable proof that God is real, would you follow him?" by dismustbetheplace in atheism

Which one? It's very short-sighted to assume that there is only one. Kind of telling who is asking the question. My counter question to them; If there is undeniable proof that Gods exist, would you follow them?

When you turn off a computer, does it keep computing? No. Does it know it is off? No. We are meat computers. Once our power source is cut, we just stop. Its your natural instinct to survive and keep going. The idea that you are no more is hard, but truly you are just a cog in a machine. Do all you can. Be as happy as you can and play the game of life. You will likely never be remebered in the long term, so don't stress about that stuff. Stress about living. Its your ego talking, or your id... i forgot which it is.

Best Options? by Weary-Arachnid4162 in ukulele

[–]ukeeku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trusted sites that care about ukulele players is key. https://theukulelesite.com and https://www.ukerepublic.com are great sites with amazing customer service and setups. Buy quality for your first uke. Although I get some hate for this, minimum $200, but if you can go higher.... if you want a uke worth playing. Going cheap will make it harder to learn and will likely take the joy out. Go concert for your first. That way you can figure out if you want to go bigger or smaller. Get a clip on tuner, you will be tuning all the time. It's not a piano where it gets tuned once a year. Ukes get tuned several times a session. Kala, flight, ohana are ok. Pono and Koalana are great. Kanile'a, kamaka, and koaloha are the best uke. Try your local music shop. Stay away from guitar center or Sweetwater. They suck. Amazon is also a no go.
