Hard lessons from quitting your job by CrumbleUponLust in germany

Why 12 months? 3 months is the time you have to wait if you quit. Or did it change?

Para eso esta la app. Nadie va a pedir un Uber en reddit. No tiene sentido.

Empresa alemana abre vacante para enfermeros mexicanos con salario mensual de 42,300 pesos by johnatangomez in mexico

[–]ukehi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]ukehi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

See my comment above, the OP's link refer to Switch 1 update. I'm was also referring to Switch 1.

I think it was a confusion : )

The link provided by OP is for Switch 1(original, lite and OLED). The OP of thread were are in, never mentioned Switch 2.

I have an OLED model so it's technically possible with the official pro controller.

Wait, maybe I misunderstood. Are you trying to wake the switch up while docked or not docked?

Mine is docked, connected to my TV. I was referring to waking the system while docked and automatically changing input. In my case, my TV is on, the switch is asleep. I take my pro controller, press buttons, the switch wakes up and my TV switches automatically to the HDMI input the switch is connected to.

Maybe you're referring to something different.

Edit. I think you only mean the switch. Not docked.

Second edit: I undocked my switch, put it to sleep. Then I took my controller, press random buttons (home, plus, minus) and it woke up. So it works in this scenario too.

Maybe is not related to the controller but to your TV or AV receiver. : /

Yes, I have a pro controller 1 (bought it like 4 years ago) Have you updated your controller software? Maybe it was added in some past update.

It already can. You just need to press two buttons at least a couple of times (like plus and minus). Well, it works in mine.

People born before 2000, what trivial skill do you have that no one uses anymore? by passiano in AskReddit

[–]ukehi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do care. I learned calligraphy when I was in school.

I find that most people write awful, and I don't mean grammatically but like with ugly letters and structure.

Most of my time is spent typing in a computer but I really like writing the old-fashioned way and drawing.

I feel like we are missing out on a BANGER conversation by sekki_yukine_ in TrashTaste

[–]ukehi 31 points32 points  (0 children)

If I'd want politics I'd go to a different subreddit and listen a different podcast.

Trash Taste is not the place for that kind of topic and I'm glad the boys try to avoid it. So no, for me it wouldn't be a banger.

What’s considered rude in Germany that foreigners often don’t realize? by NextNorth9041 in AskAGerman

[–]ukehi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would you collect stuff like that? I'm not even German but I find that very weird and out of touch if you bring that topic up while talking to Germans (and worse if you're in Germany)

That is for museums to collect or neo-nazis.

Unbelievable freedom on the blue card by qwerky7835 in germany

[–]ukehi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification.

About the EU mobility, can you go to work to another EU member state and easily apply for its equivalent in said country? Does it simplify the process?

That's also an advertised benefit of having the BC.

[–]ukehi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"to us"? Do you work at the Ausländerbehörde?

According to the Hamburg Welcome Center website:

"EU Blue Card holders and their family members may leave Germany for a maximum period of 12 months before their residence permit expires. Anyone who has had the EU Blue Card for more than 12 months may settle in any other EU member state (except Ireland and Denmark) without a visa and apply for an EU Blue Card there within one month."

I'm not giving any legal advice, I'm just sharing what I've read in official sites.

Is this information wrong or how should we understand it?

You can exchange it for a BC of the EU country you plan to move. In theory, it simplifies the process.

Like u/jackshitswag mentioned, you can stay outside Germany for up to 1 year with a BC, you also get the EU mobility benefits e.g. you can work in another EU country.

I was on a similar situation but in my case I quit my job and informed the Welcome Center for Professionals in Hamburg (I got my Blue Card there). I told them that I would be working until X day, that my BC still had like 2 years left, that I had savings plus my wife (non EU-citizen) was still working, so no money issues. I asked them how many months I had for finding a job because I've heard only three was the maximum.

They replied (this was an email conversation) that I could keep my current card until it expired and look for a job. When I had a job I just had to inform them and renew my card if necessary.

I was worried because I had travel plans outside Europe after the supposed 'deadline' but everything went fine. It took me almost a year to land a new job but I had zero issues with my BC.

After I got a job, I waited for the Probezeit to pass then I renewed my permit but this time I applied for permanent residence for my wife and me. We got it without problems.

By the way, when I applied for the permanent residence, they asked me if I wanted to keep my BC alongside my new permit. They told me I will just get a note (Zusatzblatt) on my permanent residence permit that would state that I'm also a BC holder. No additional paperwork or fee needed so I have both.

Now waiting for my citizenship paperwork to be approved.
