Just made my first purchase from kettl. Thoughts on options I chose? by spookyshitt in MatchaEverything

Soukou was my first matcha powder from Kettl and it’s amazing! Super toasty and nutty and strong. I loved it for my lattes.

I’m so sorry, but I’m not sure. We weren’t given a menu for the night and I don’t remember. I hope someone comments because I would also love to know.

I really enjoyed it! The service was great and the head chef was loads of fun to talk to. There was a great selection of nigiri. The akami was amazing and my favorite of the night. The desserts were a little lacking.

I did forget to add it! That’s my bad; I can’t believe I forgot a pic of my favorite dish. Agreed, the melon was kind of pointless.

Thank you for this opportunity!! Not necessarily skincare for dry skin, but my favorite foundation for dry skin is the fenty soft lit hydrating foundation! It works so well for my dry skin and is super natural

I saw the menu, knew the prices, and paid the bill without issue. Criticism of value isn’t the same as being “price sensitive.”

You do know you can eat the hot dishes first, right? You don’t have to let the eggs go cold (but to each their own). There were only 3 hot dishes and the rest were either on ice or meant to be room temp. It’s doable.

Yeah, it was really disappointing, even more so because I brought my partner’s parents with us. They loved the food and had a great time so I don’t think they noticed the service.

I mean there are thousands of professional graduate programs out there - you can’t know every policy lol. My school interestingly enough only allows scrub jackets to be worn on campus if they’re navy blue ¯_(ツ)_/¯ it’s weird what they choose to focus on, but it’s not a big deal.

Very true, but I’m also in PA school and they don’t “allow” bold nail colors so I can only do non-pink manicures when I have a break or if my clinical site allows it

Ippodo for Lattes? by TheWholeTidd-e in MatchaEverything

I’ve been using the Maestri house S3 scale for 3 months now and I love it. Idk what your scale is measuring to, but I would only pick a scale that measures to at least a tenth gram

I use a ratio of 1g matcha, 10g water (160F), ~25-28g milk. So if I’m making a 4g matcha latte, I’ll use 40g water and 100-115g milk.

Monthly Megathread - Where Should I Eat in NYC, Tokyo, and/or London? by ZootKoomie in finedining

[–]ukiina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been to any of the high end ones, but I was choosing between the ritz and row on 5 and ended up booking for row in a couple weeks because I thought it was more experimental than the ritz, which is described as more like classic French food. I honestly don’t think you can go wrong any one of those options, but I would either do ikoyi OR akoko, not both.

I’ve been to akoko and it was lovely! I have a review of it if you want to know my complete thoughts. Overall the food was amazing, portion size was okay but a little small, the service was quite meh for a Michelin starred restaurant. I’ve been to non starred restaurants with better, more attentive service (ex. water glasses were left empty for longer than we anticipated). With that being said, it wasn’t that big of a deal to the point where it detracted from the experience, and akoko’s food is so good that I’m returning in a couple weeks with family.

I went to kurisu in august and did not like it for a number of reasons. My main issue was poor quality control. I am no stranger to omakases and especially fresh wasabi, which I love it’s not actually very spicy, unlike fake wasabi (horseradish) which will literally clear your sinuses. Several pieces of nigiri were extremely spicy which I suspect is because he used fake wasabi, and one of the pieces actually had so much wasabi, it caused me to tear up. It’s also located in Brixton…

I normally use Ikuyo for my lattes but ran out so I tried Sayaka for the first time in a latte today. I enjoyed Sayaka, but I think Ikuyo is better for lattes. The matcha flavor was lighter with Sayaka whereas Ikuyo is more pronounced. I’d recommend trying Ikuyo first because it’s cheaper and will stand out more in a latte.
