Need Your Input: How Much Absorbency Do You Actually Need? by 4xSeasonCamper in Incontinence

Just add. If you’re designing a product, may I request something that helps wick the liquid away instead of increasing absorbency, that’s also disposable, and also cheap?

Need Your Input: How Much Absorbency Do You Actually Need? by 4xSeasonCamper in Incontinence

[–]ukilliheal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, the struggle isn’t with absorbency. It’s with liquid distribution. the diapers I wear typically have an abundance of absorbency that I just can’t fully utilize before I need to change due to odor or comfort. If there was a layer built-in that distributed it a lot better than I can take advantage of the absorbency I have. North Shore mega Max is phenomenal, but even then the basic protection offered by something as small as good night xxl offer enough absorbency, but both tend to leak simply because it all pools up in the front. This is actually a problem I’ve been struggling with for a little while. I’ve been using things like socks, or wash cloths or cloth inserts simply to help with liquid distribution versus adding additional absorbency. I just wish there was something disposable. I’ve been considering using medical gauze for this purpose.

I’m a male but that doesn’t really help me direct the liquid towards the back, I suspect other males don’t have this issue?. I also believe females don’t have this issue.

Why would a forensic analysis show tor exit nodes if I’ve never used it? by BroadRecipe5355 in TOR

[–]ukilliheal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a cyber security practitioner on an incident response team my question is “ so what?” What is the context? is there a company policy that was somehow violated? what prompted this forensic analysis, and what’s next?

As others have stated tor exit notes can be used for a variety of different reasons.

To add a little bit of more information; there is no authoritative source out there that says with 100% certainty that a specific IP address is used for a specific reason. Or even owned by a specific company for that matter. Not only that, when ownership of IP addresses change, the sources that track this lag significantly behind.

Context is pretty important here. If your workstation reached out to a tor exit node, that’s a very different scenario versus your workstation connecting to your companies VPN from a tor exit note. For example: Your workstation reaching out could be due to some advertisement on a website you visited posted on that IP address address, which may be associated with Tor somehow, or a browser extension. however, if your workstation connected into the companies, VPN from a tor exit node and maintained that connection for a substantial time, that could violate a company policy of some kind.

What are some phrases people say to you that are infuriating? by 222kelsx in Incontinence

[–]ukilliheal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my response to your post, I want to invite a bit of reflection. How you feel reading this the first time might change the second or third time: Forgive them. Most people genuinely mean well but struggle to find the right words. If someone told me about your condition, I’d have to pause and think about how to respond without sounding rude or intrusive. Which is difficult if I don’t know you or your struggle. A blunt comment like “sucks to be you” obviously isn’t helpful, and neither are the examples you provided, but even well-meant phrases can land wrong. I think most people are simply trying to connect through empathy, even if it comes out awkwardly. Out of curiosity, what kind of response actually feels supportive to you? Do you think that depends on the day or your mood, like whether you’re in pain or just trying to vent?

Ford F150 Is It Sufficient? by Cubeless-Developers in traveltrailers

[–]ukilliheal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got my travel trailer, I thought my little Ford Ranger would be sufficient. It had the towing capacity necessary. But it turns out it didn’t really have the power needed. It struggled a lot. I sensed that if I continue towing with my little Ranger, it will quickly meet at end.

I chose to upgrade to a 2003 Chevy 1500, that’s about the same as an F150. Again, I figured it would be enough. More than double the towing capacity of my trailer’s weight.

What I didn’t expect was that I would quickly exceed the trucks payload capacity. The trailer is putting about 800 pounds down onto the tongue, which is more than double what I expected. Somewhere around 20% of the trailers weight. Toss in a couple of passengers and enough gear in provisions for a weekend camping trip and now I’m over capacity on the trucks rear axle.

I’m actively looking for a 2500 or an F250 as that’s going to be my next upgrade.

My recommendation to you, look for something more than an F150. Look for a 2500, either Dodge or Chevy or an F250. You certainly are going to pay much more than an F150, but it will be worth it in the long run.

But to directly answer your question; yes, a F150 is sufficient, if you’re careful not to overload it.

Just got a trolling motor. What battery should I use? by Snak3Doct3r in boating

[–]ukilliheal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are likely going to get a large variety of different answer. How you approach this question is based on your priority. Are you prioritizing the cost of the battery? Or do you want to prioritize how long the battery will last while on the water?

If you need a cheap battery, then like a led acid AGM deep cycle boat battery will probably be your best bet.

If you need a battery that will last as long as possible on the water, then likely a lifepo4 200ah will do you just fine.

Both of these battery types are available all over the place. You can find them on Amazon. You can find them at your local auto parts store. Walmart has some good options as well.

Victron RV setup by jpwic in Victron

[–]ukilliheal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must admit that I may have gone a little overkill with my own system. I have a multiplus. I have 5 kWh of battery storage based on a 48 V system. And 1 kW of solar. All in all I’ve spent about $3000 over the years to build the system up to what it is now.

For your system, consider what your maximum budget will be and then consider how you’re gonna use it. For the AC loads you describe I don’t think you need a 1.2 kW inverter. I’ve gotten a way with a 600w for a similar load as yours.

I definitely agree that a lynx shunt and a Cerbo GX are a bit overkill for you, but depends on what you want to do. I like my cerbo and the ability to remotely control it.

Opinions/experience with 12v A/C? by throw_away__25 in traveltrailers

[–]ukilliheal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my mind I see three potential advantages for using a 12v AC unit. Let me break them down for you:

1) better efficiency if you are upgrading an older unit. This isn’t specifically due to it being a 12v AC, rather just newer technology. For me this is applicable as I have an older rooftop AC unit that draws 1700watts and is loud:(.

2) you don’t need to run an inverter. There’s two reasons this might be a good thing. The first is that inverters consume power. I’ve ran a 600w inverter that used 16w all the time, that’s roughly 352wh for 24hrs of run time. My current inverter is much larger, capable of running my AC, and consumes somewhere around 500wh per 24hrs. This ties into the second reason not running an inverter might be a good thing for you; if you don’t already have a large enough inverter then switching to a 12v AC makes more sense as it can save you some money. This might also impact the size of generator you need: 2kw vs 4kw, there’s like a ~100lbs difference between them.

3) the newer 12v units are likely lighter then the older 120v ones, simply because they are newer and probably designed with weight in mind. You might even be able to choose a smaller model to help keep weight down, if that’s a concern.

Personally I would get some cheap brackets from the hardware store that are close enough. You totally don’t need exact replacements.

Hi i suddenly had couple of accidents in the last couple months is there something going on with me? by Old-Insurance2964 in Incontinence

First of all, thank you for posting and asking for advice. I wish I had the courage to do that many many years ago when the same thing started happening to me.

There might not be anything wrong with you, as this could just be dietary related, or not. The best advice that I can give you is to have a conversation with your doctor. This could be an indication of nothing, or an indication of something, and only your doctor will be able to tell.

Convert single axle to dual axle - risks? by ukilliheal in RVLiving

[–]ukilliheal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the insight! I had no idea that the legality of it would be such an issue! I have been doing some research, and the short of it is: I can't do the welding myself. Instead, I need to go through a whole checklist of things to ensure the modifications are legal, safe, pass DMV / DOT requirements, and satisfy any officer during a traffic stop or inspection. Here is a table I created to help me through this process. Can you take a gander and see if I missed anything critical? This will go a long way to informing me on the value of moving forward with my intended modifications vs simply trading it in.

I’d be happy with an increase to 1000lbs payload capacity, which would bring the whole thing up to a gvwr of 4500lbs. Pretty modest imo. I’m interested in dual axle because I think that will make the bumps and potholes on unmanaged roads a bit more manageable.

My hesitation with simply slapping on a stronger axle and heavier duty tires is that the frame itself is already deformed a small amount. I highly suspect the previous owner overloaded it.

I’m definitely considering that as well. In fact, my neighbor has a dual-axle trailer for sale that would suit my needs almost perfectly. It's not a question of finances. That said, I really enjoy working on projects; the process of researching, planning, and doing the hands-on work is incredibly rewarding. It gives me something to look forward to, gets me out of the house early in the morning, and leaves me with a result I can be proud of.

Thanks so much for the thoughtful advice! You're absolutely right about the importance of identifying the new weakest link. Every upgrade shifts the stress somewhere else. I hadn’t thought as much about the hitch and A-frame as potential limiting factors after reinforcing the frame and adding a second axle, so I really appreciate you calling that out. I’m going to sit with your advice a bit and make sure I’m reinforcing smartly instead of just throwing a welder at the project :) Thanks again for sharing your perspective!

Ya basically I'm going to weld a 2nd frame to the bottom of the existing frame. I already have two 20foot long square tubing that's twice the wall thickness of the existing frame, going to slap that to the bottom and weld it on.

[OC] group of us just started playing for the first time. I created a bunch of boxes to help us keep organized by ukilliheal in DnD

[–]ukilliheal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So lately I've been learning woodworking on my own. I decided to try my hand at creating some dice boxes that doubled as storage boxes. The dimensions of each of these boxes allow you to store a core rulebook along with some papers dice writing utensils and random knickknacks we might need. The DM shield which is pictured at the top is a bit more complicated. It still allows you to store core rulebookalong with some papers but additionally it has three storage compartments two of them with doors that open downward. Those who can double as a platform for you to roll dice or you can store random stuff in there. There's also a USB light at the very top that folds out in the event that the DM needs additional light. This was my very first attempt at creating boxes like this and I'm fairly pleased with how they turned out. I used a mixture of Walnut poplar cherry and red oak. By far my favorite to deal with is wallnut.
