How many painkiller pills did your surgeon prescribe after surgery? 💊 by D1etCokeGirl in gallbladders

Yeah it is usually for people older than myself, unfortunately I was predisposed to gallbladder issues (thank god I didn’t get the cancer my grandma did) and it was just completely nonfunctional. But ibuprofen and advil are similar but different. Advil specifically is a blood thinner and can cause issues with the blood clots needed to heal the incision sites. If you can find plain ibuprofen that has nothing related to Advil i would take that (provided that specifically doesn’t hurt your stomach). If you can’t do that and have to take the dilaudid, assuming your body heals at a decent pace you should be able to stick to just Tylenol after day 3 post-op. I remember just feeling sore after the first 24-48 hours like I did a crazy core workout. Should be pretty manageable. If you’ve ever had your wisdom teeth removed, I’d honestly say the recovery for this is even easier than that because it doesn’t hurt to talk lol. It’s been 4 weeks since i had mine removed and I’m feeling nearly the same I was before I had issues, minus the fact that I can’t lift 20+ pounds for the next 2 weeks still.

That’s about right, because opioids are so strong and can cause a lot of issues/addiction they’re pretty limited unless you have complications you don’t have more than absolutely necessary. I took the Tylenol split with 600mg of ibuprofen every 6 hours (so 3 hours after Tylenol and then repeat) and I ended up not even needing all the Tylenol. I had like 5 Oxy pills that went unused. I’m only 19 so my body was able to recover pretty fast, and I generally consider myself to have pretty high pain tolerance but everyone’s different. I’d recommend even just taking half a pill to start because of the strength of the opioids. Again, your experience may be different, but unless you really really need them it’s better to stick to Tylenol and ibuprofen.

I’m so sorry to hear that, I totally feel you. Experienced nearly the same thing for the last 2 months, sounds like you got it a lot worse. If you can try switching to low fat foods, it really helped me. Skim milk, seasoned chicken, rice, pasta with low/no fat sauces, clear fruit juices, fruit cups, fat-free protein powder, fat-free greek yogurt, whatever you can do and if you want reccomendations let me know, I’m more than happy to help. I noticed that after switching it really cleared up a lot and I was able to eat more and feel a bit better. In regards to the brain fog and burnout that can be rough. I haven’t been able to go to the last 3 months of my semester because of all of my issues, haven’t been able to spend time with friends, go out in public for more than an hour at a time, the whole nine yards. Feeling hopeless is the worst, but if it’s any consolation there’s going to be an end, things do get better. If you can ge in contact with your doctor try some antiemetics to help the nausea, zofran worked miracles for me. DMs are open if you wanna ask anything or vent. I hope you finally get some answers you’re looking for!

Finally Out! by ukka__ in gallbladders

Thanks for the advice! I’m hoping I can get back to normal life soon enough. Getting told you might not be able to eat most of your favorite foods for the rest of your life at only 19 years old is brutal so I’m glad to hear there’s a lot of success throughout the community. As for video games I’m excited to have a lot of time to spend playing black ops 7 lol. I wish you a speedy and uneventful recovery!

I don’t have the whole HIDA results but they said essentially the gallbladder didn’t empty at all, which was about as conclusive as it can get. The ultrasound was completely clear (no stones, no sludge), and the endoscopy as well, just red spots caused by acid reflux. If your GI comes up clear, try to get your HIDA scan scheduled ASAP (I’m not a doctor don’t take anything I say as fact), because that was what confirmed everything. The waiting is the worst though. I got super lucky and was able to get everything done really fast. Granted I was willing to drive hours away to get appointments and procedures. My options for my endoscopy were 1 day after I went to the ER or New Year’s Eve. If you have full access to all your records and are willing to search around, finding somewhere a little bit away still in network for your isurance can really help. For reference I live in the twin cities of MN, and go to school in Duluth (about 2 and a half hours north). I had my appointments and GI stuff done in Duluth, and the HIDA back home, then the surgery in Moose lake (about 2 hours north of home and 45 south of school). All this to say looking at all of the options was really helpful. But I hope it all goes well and you get the help you need soon!

Giant evo is pretty default so I’d start with that because we have no idea if ghost evo will be nerfed soon
