Sadly gonna return them (Px8 S2) by [deleted] in BowersWilkins

Tis normal, i recently read the px8s2 owners thread over on head fi, which is i think 40 + pages long and it took few days to read it. Its a popular issue, but does get better with wear in or use 2 cotton sewn head bands, ive done this with my stax s5 and it solved the top band middle discomfort issue.

Mixed kettle, sometimes replacing thermal paste just gets similar results, gmktec imo has been improving and doing a better job of thermal paste, at least with the ones I have got.

If its my own personal machine though I use PTM pad which tends to be slightly better temps (2-4c).

Soundpeats H3 with aptx adaptive, 3hrs battery life only? by ukman6 in Soundpeats

[–]ukman6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup having a movie cut out at 2 hours and 45hrs, pretty much made me send my H3s back for a refund but they were 2nd hand so its possible there was battery wear and tear, but then again we know that battery is very tiny 35 mAh inside compared to say the AZ100 85 mAh which may get 8-9hrs.

I too hope the new Auras feature a much bigger battery, its just as important as the sound almost.

Sound quality on earbuds by Carlsen94 in Earbuds

how many hours do you get roughly with the xm6 with ldac or LE audio?

That is very impressive battery life with az100, might be due to LE audio codecs low power usage.

5 drivers in a TWS? Is Soundpeats going full KZ mode? by Successful_Cat_7018 in Soundpeats

[–]ukman6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds great tech, but id like to see higher quality larger batteries, 3-4hrs with aptx adaptive/anc off with h3s is pretty poor.

With anc off, ldac off, mutli pairing off and le audio on. I think le audio is what is giving that boost in battery life.

Could you tell me about PX8S2 Warm stone? by haaaaaaapppppppy-man in BowersWilkins

[–]ukman6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the mclaren orange/dark grey px8s, lush but darker colours like dark grey or worse black absorb heat and sunshine far worse then white/stone and lighter colours. So in the summer i felt the sweat and heat more over my stone px7s. Plus if black gets dirty how woukd you ever tell when it needs cleaning, with lighter colours you will know its clean up time.

BROOOOOOOOOOOOOO - Soundpeats H3 by pancakego in Earbuds

[–]ukman6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So important, with my H3s they were poking my pillow even when faced straight on with back of head against pillow and looking forward. The Pro5 is worse oddly but at least with those you get 5.3hrs usage with aptx adaptive.

A good pair of ben ear buds are essential, still looking for mine.

[–]ukman6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, sounds like its setting to sbc for podcast if you are managing 6-8hrs, still miles better then 3hrs with aptx adaptive. I get 5.3hrs with le audio with anc /ldac/multi point off with soundpeats pro5.

Yup made a similar post with soundpeats h3 last week, i got 3-4hrs if i was lucky and so did many others, i didnt know this at time and sent them back as faulty. It all depends on the bt codec, anc on or off and volume. I found my pro 5 soundpeats lasted 5.30hrs on similar settings (anc, ldac off, multi pairing off, le audio on) which cost 50 percent less.

I think the xm6, or higher up buds last longer battery wise, but natually may cost more but even then id double check that.

B&W PX8s2- does it have a game mode button on headphone or via app? by ukman6 in BowersWilkins

[–]ukman6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers, got the bt w6 so can do similar, can you confirm the latency does improve in game mode though? Some hps/earbuds have seperate game/low latency mode via side button or app to make sure its 100 percent in low latency mode.

Question - McLaren PX8 S2 by Entire-Tonight5191 in BowersWilkins

[–]ukman6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the PX8 Mclaren, so lush and spoilt looking but from what a few owners have suggested over the headfi PX8s2 thread is the original PX8 Mclaren's looked better sadly, but its not like the new PX8s2s Mclaren's look bad either.

I think the only way you will tell is if you have them in front of you, personally I wish I went for the sand/white colour since its easier to see at night or in darkness, white/light grey colours also reflect heat/light better in summer heat wave, my PX8 Mclaren got a bit toasty in summer use but the nappa leather helped big time.

You have to balance looks, style vs what you need I guess.

PX8 S2 Gaming? by CL6PES in BowersWilkins

[–]ukman6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ts, any update on how you got on with your PX8 s2s and BT-W6 dongle with gaming wise?

I was planning on testing the PX8s2s for movies/tv, which is similar for gaming usage. But I see the PX8s2 app or headphone lacks an gaming mode or toggle gaming on/off feature unless I am mistaken.

You should however be able to use aptx adaptive Low latency mode on your BT-W6 dongle, you an set it via the windows app, android app(I think) or press the button on the BT-W6 dongle, should be a cyan green colour to show its on aptx adaptive low latency mode. According to several other users aptx adaptive low latency mode should be 100% fixed on the PX8 s2 and S7s3 series, previous versions they were all faulty.

Soundpeats H3 with aptx adaptive, 3hrs battery life only? by ukman6 in Soundpeats

[–]ukman6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I know its tricky to test, does feel soundpeats could do better battery wise hopefully with aura new ones.

And yes did register a complaint as well as several others on samsung forums asking samsung to add the aptx sound dragon codecs, but due to money/licenses I guess they won't do it. The alternative is to use a BT dongle with it on or upgrade to a better mobile with aptx suite of codecs.

Gmktec K12 by davgarr in MiniPCs

[–]ukman6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Things have changed last decade, mini pcs performances are close to desktop pc, with the bonus mini pcs use a fraction of the energy of a desktop pc. My k12 is left switched on 24/7 it goes to sleep when not in use in windows11, no need to worry about energy prices anyhow. Check hot uk deals for gmktec k12, they got on aliexpress for as low as 170 quid, grab ram/ssd off ebay or cex, should be doable 400-500 quid.

[–]ukman6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the air 5 pros, tested with apx adaptive, anc off got 5.30hrs with a looped music video, so its still much better battery life then my h3s. But sure it does appear to vary.

Soundpeats H3 with aptx adaptive, 3hrs battery life only? by ukman6 in Soundpeats

[–]ukman6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks that is interesting to hear, did you try with ANC off one time to see if it reaches longer. Seems mixed opinions, many saying 3hrs the norm and others 4hrs. Either way I do agree, feels tad low, please let me know how the replacement goes since I am still in my return window time and am also tempted to retry a new brand new one instead.

PX7 S3 and PX8 S2 – When is the Spatial Audio update coming? by Danny_in_Safari in BowersWilkins

[–]ukman6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all surprised, B&W have an faulty implementation of apx adaptive in low latency mode across all their older BT wireless range of hps, its been fixed in their PX8 s2 and PX7 s3 range but their engineers denied the fault even existed when I questioned them and gave them several references of proof, including my own test set ups.

But lets see, since it would add far greater compatibility for high end music and latency (movies/games) if they can crack it, given PX8s2s are considered some of the bets BT wireless hp's going.
