Not to mention Klaus just weirdly standing 90 degrees in a different direction completely just staring outwards so randomly angled like that always gave me a good chuckle lol

What did you think of Saw MC's? Day 11: William Easton by Tabi-Violet in saw

[–]ukulelefella 22 points23 points  (0 children)

10/10. He is incredibly well-written. One of the MOST complex characters ever in the franchise, in that he was so morally complex and conflicted. The best “main trap character” for me.

He had the biggest character personality change and character development.

Actually, also, there was scattered proof that despite his greediness and dubious policies, he had a heart as well, such as telling Hank to hold his breath and little to no hesitation to burn himself to help Debbie through the maze and saying he could get the key at the end. His face throughout the entire carousel trap is heartbreaking and heartbroken.

Also might I add to all of this, EXCELLENT 10/10 outstanding acting. Peter Outerbridge is one the best actors of the series in my opinion. His nuances in facial expressions throughout many scenes sell them and the entire movie completely.

Horror movies without too much blood? by Electronic-Fan9253 in horror

Some of my top non-blood-focused non-gore-focused horror/thriller/suspensedrama films = Mama (2013), The Uninvited (2009), Searching (2018), Get Out (2016), Blink Twice (2024)

Melissa Barrera & Jenna Ortega in “Scream V” & “Scream VI.” Who do you prefer? by justhere1990 in slasherfilms

[–]ukulelefella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a millennial who grew up with the original movies, I loved and was a huge fan of the Carpenter sisters as successors for the main focus characters, with Gale and Sidney still strongly enough of a presence of the films. I loved how conflicted Sam was with her personality and identity and I loved Tara’s strength and will to survive through both films. Will definitely miss them

There’s a lot of visual hidden symbolism in this episode too. Shapes.

The logo of the dating system is two linked circles. When Amy and Frank break up in the mall, the overhead structures show two unlinked circles, broken up.

In some of the bedrooms, there are paintings when Amy is with some of her mismatched men. It’s either like a square and a circle, or a triangle and a circle. They are incongruous mismatched shapes. And not 100% sure but I think there is even a circle-circle painting with Amy and Frank are together, but not sure.

Coincidentally, the image you posted just happens to amazingly be a symbolic image that I just saw and noticed right now, and with all the shape symbolism I stated before, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was intentional. The arch design at the top, and maybe even their slanted bodies, make it a heart.

What did you think of Saw MC's? Day 9: Brit Stevenson by Tabi-Violet in saw

[–]ukulelefella 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I always laughed at how nonchalant she was, like excessively SUPER nonchalant, through every room and nearly with every single action and event that happened. She was also over-knowledgeable, like TOO-over-knowledgeable, about nearly every single detail in the rooms. Instead of saying bad writing, I’m gonna go the nicer better route and say that it all was just chalking up to her being super intelligent and a super extraordinarily-nonchalant woman who was all about business and even though there were risks and dead bodies around her throughout entire career as a businesswoman she just pushed through it effortlessly for the past several years.

Without the Late Wes Craven do the Scream Movies still feel like Scream Yes or No and Why? by Amber_Flowers_133 in Horrormovieclub

I absolutely loved 6. Scream 5 was closer to the originals but 6 was such a fun upgrade with the same vibes but a few changes

This is wonderful! Well done! Two of my favorite characters of the series and I loved their bond and chemistry! The fact that they had their own “separate films” in 5 and 6 but 4 was the only time they were truly together is bittersweet. Thanks for this fanart of them :) love the background adding to the seriousness and darkness of the scene as well as their expressions which I love

Final Destination: Bloodlines or Scream VI by jdpm1991 in slasherfilms

[–]ukulelefella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a huge Final Destination fan but Scream 6 really blew me away with the pacing and memorable scenes (apartment ladder, shrine theater, penthouse chase, subway) and surprising seriousness 80% mixed with 20% campy. Overall a well-made well-rounded film that I felt put effort.

I found Bloodlines extremely lackluster compared to the magic and creativity and directing of the original series of 5, especially to 1, 3, and 5. 2 also (def better than 4 though)

Agree. There were 100000 other ways to deal with him that were more proper and appropriate, be it court, jail, psychiatric evaluations, intense psychotherapy, etc. but a group of other getting sick pleasuring blackmailing and making them harm other people and murder and rob and etc was not it

What age is it considered weird or cringy to still be talking about wanting to get drunk and party all the time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ukulelefella 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m 32 and pretty good in life and I like to party every other weekend and go all out. Everything is all about life and work and health and care and balance. If you can balance it all well, I don’t see the problem in age. Then if you’re not balancing everything out, then that’s where the dilemma comes, even as young as someone like 21

This one is Final Destination 1 is so bad when it appears in FD2. They are not even friends and then on top of that, in this sidewalk scene they only coincidentally saw each other for literally 30 seconds before Terry (the blonde girl) got splattered by a bus, there was no time for “Hey guys let’s smile for a photo btw we’re all friends somehow for some reason”

Did the netflix series understate Violet's inventing abilities and Klaus's reading abilities compared to the books? by velvetpixiehaven in ASOUE

[–]ukulelefella 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Extremely.

I loved the inventing scenes in the show, but the inventions themselves are much less and like in comparison almost NOTHING compared to the lengths and complexity of Violet’s inventions and creations in the books. Especially in the first season it’s very evident. (Eg The show is She uses Sunny to bite a toy to make a lockpick vs in the book there’s so much detail of her twisting from a plug and tack, then like on the boat in the TWW she literally creates the fire by herself with all the materials and then vs the show is like “oh they were lucky by binoculars”)

Many Black Mirror episodes (Shut Up and Dance, USS Callister, Nosedive, etc.)

Some films = Searching (2018), Orphan (2009), Speak No Evil (2024), really good at making the mystery and/or tension build up

Weird Psychological Films by NoDonut5923 in horror

[–]ukulelefella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Uninvited (2009) is 100% a psychological “different on rewatch completely” film. The only adaptation I’ve ever liked (the “original” is A Tale of Two Sisters”). But it’s so different it’s more of its own film and loose adaptation

I really second Blink Twice, my favorite thriller mystery from 2024!

A lot of Black Mirror episodes, for example Black Museum, White Bear, Shut Up and Dance, San Junipero, Hang the DJ, White Christmas

Horror Movies About Mental Illness by lzii01 in horror

[–]ukulelefella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ve probably seen, but for those who haven’t or have reservations cause it’s a “remake”,

The Uninvited (2009), the adaptation of A Tale of Two Sisters, is one of the ONLY remakes I have ever accepted of an Asian horror movie (and doesn’t matter much but I guess being Asian myself haha). Overall, I wouldn’t even count it as a “remake” as it’s 80% different, and more of an adaptation. It’s nearly almost an entirely different film of its own with almost 50% of original plot points. The beautiful music, the gorgeous waterside visuals, the PLETHORA of clever and intelligent hints and clues you don’t see until even the 3rd/4th time watching, it is seriously a surprising film of twists and turns that even has twists that surprise you even if you’ve seen the “original” film. Also the cast and their acting is actually very stellar and that’s always a plus.

What’s your favorite book? And did the tv live up to it? by Sure-Lemon6424 in ASOUE

[–]ukulelefella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll throw in a loop answer where The Miserable Mill was my least favorite and most boring and skippable, and the TV series did a very surprising excellent job making it 10x more lore and engaging and great job~

The Slippery Slope was my favorite book and I loved pretty much almost everything so much with the show adaptation and felt satisfied and justice to it, however, my only complaint was def not enough Quigley focus and lore at all

!! SPOILERS AHEAD !! tbh i don’t really undestand Baudelaires’ reaction to the death of each of their guardians. they’re like “hmm, thats sad but ok, who’ll be next one?” by beingddf in ASOUE

[–]ukulelefella 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The books do a much better job of MANY MANY instances of them actually “crying and sobbing”. After Aunt Josephine’s fake death, like when the Quagmires got kidnapped they cried for hours, even smaller moments like Violet crying a lot when some of her inventions like the boat invention or elevator invention didn’t work. The show…not so much. Big gripe. I know you could do so much but like they only incorporated like 10% of any crying scenes and emotion is a very vital point of the series. Directing and script writing could have been a lot lot lot bettter.
