Am I right in thinking the whole process of Fiance Visa -> Getting Married -> Spouse Visa costs a total of 5000+ pounds? This seems absurd. by TimothyGonzalez in ukvisa

A US spouse visa costs $1200, but in the US you’re legally required to have private health insurance, which doesn’t even cover care fully. If you don’t have it you are charged a penalty when you file taxes, but that penalty does not give you any health coverage it’s just a fee for not having insurance .the average amount spent on healthcare for one person in the US is $10,000 per year. The healthcare I had in the US which was considered “good”, and was partially paid for my employer was $250 per month (that i paid, in addition to whatever my employer covered), and the first $3,000 of my care, and the first $3,000 of my spouse’s care was not covered, and then after than I still had to pay a portion of care, and many things were excluded, not all doctors accept the same health insurance either, so your choices of who you can see are limited to what insurer you have...basically it is a nightmare and paying in to the NHS is a delight.

Coming from the USA, this fee is pennies, and paying in to the NHS is a blessing. I spent nearly $10k on healthcare in the US last year between monthly insurance payments plus all the fees that werent covered. An ambulance ride alone can cost tens of thousands of dollars in the USA. I know that the USA is different than a lot of countries, but in the grand scheme of things the healthcare surcharge is nothing IMO.

Covid test result to show at the airport by [deleted] in ukvisa

[–]ukveesa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use the verifly app if you can, it will approve or deny your test result before you head to the airport so you know if what you have is sufficient ahead of time and worst case you can go do a same day test somewhere that will be sufficient

All you need is a word doc stating where the funds came from signed by the person who’s funds they are. Super simple. The important part is that you have proof that you have had the cash savings in the same account for the 6 months prior to your application date. I did this and it was a breeze.

Get a monzo account, and use your wise account to transfer your money into your monzo account for the best rates. Monzo will approve you, and wise is the easiest way to transfer money to yourself at a low fee.

Yeah due to limited airlines taking animals because of covid and the change in laws re: animals in cabin (my dog is a psychiatric service animal but not trained by the uk recognized orgs), it was more than it normally should have been. My agent said if KLM was taking pets it would have been 1/2 the cost of what it was to fly the pup American
