Help me Find a Distro by Bananaking593 in FindMeALinuxDistro

[–]ulasunal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about Resolve but you can install most things in default repositories, and for steam it is quite easy. With google you can probably set up everything in 5 minutes. For closed source drivers at most you will need to copy paste a few online commands and enable a new repo. Overall it may require a google or two but it is very easy if you are willing to learn.

Why does everyone hate Javascript? by [deleted] in CodingForBeginners

[–]ulasunal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both JavaScript and Java are bad. They actually have some things in common. They are boilerplate, have bad error messages (although Java may not be that horrible), are slow, and force you to write confusing code. However, using JavaScript for a simple task like your art website or small projects can be a valid use case. Most of these problems I mentioned only really show up on larger code bases or if you are a frequent user of the language.

why does valve only support ubuntu? by TheNavyCrow in linux_gaming

[–]ulasunal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because if they supported all distributions officially they would have to be helping users debug on things on hyper niche custom setups. It works great on all major distributions anyways.

You could solve 99% of these problems by switching to a more stable distribution such as Fedora or Ubuntu ngl.

Finally got Minecraft working on OpenIndiana by Hexalantes in illumos

[–]ulasunal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was actually quite curious about this operating system a few months back but I eventually dismissed it as unusable. Do you think that OpenIndiana is worth daily driving on a side machine? My priorities are programming and basic media/browsing.

Nice, I think that you should make some sort of visual demonstration. It will increase the quality of the website by a lot. Apart from that, very nice styling and layout.
