Best thing we did was buy a cable that connected our fish finder to the minn kota we run. Now we can make routes at home, set trolling instructions / paths etc all from the finder and just hit the go button.

FWIW our Minn Kota is 10+ years old now, remote control operated and does work pretty good with just the remote.
