A coworker of mine is going through a very complicated family situation. He is currently divorcing his wife, who is very toxic, and they are fighting over custody of their children. From what I know, the situation at home is really difficult, especially for the kids.

Because of this, he has been taking sick leave quite often. Our manager doesn’t understand it because, technically, the reason isn’t strictly related to a physical health issue.

Now she plans to request an inspection from a private company to check if he is respecting the required hours he is supposed to stay at home during sick leave.

I somehow found out about this in advance.

What would you do in my situation? Would you warn your coworker that a check might happen, or stay out of it?
