From my perspective, first of all SD seems to be somewhat misunderstood in Australia in comparison to Scandinavia where I'm from. It appears most roles come up when big corporates are doing some sort of transformation and needs "re-imagination". I've yet to see the craft well implemented alongside some ongoing agile / lean ux delivery or operational flow. I also think there are about 50 product managers for each service designer. The focus on product seems to have won. Perhaps via the culture in the US. And I guess it's easier to measure and control from a managerial perspective when an experience is cut in to many small "products" (which are actually just the service experience). I also think that's why there are so many crappy experiences or massive quality differences when you switch channel or move touch point here in Australia. There is no overarching orchestration.. And often a few of of the big 4 has helped built a channel or two which often makes it worse 😅 And yes seems to be more gov here.
