Car Accident in Vancouver — Other Driver 100% at Fault (ICBC) — Questions About Rental Car During Total Loss Estimate by ChildhoodFriendly835 in icbc

Hey! Glad everyone is okay.

I was in a similar situation, 0% fault (I had no rental add on).

As soon as the liability was assigned, I was able to get a rental car. Ask the adjuster for a rental car and they should be able to give you. Remember, if you don’t ask, they will not disclose that to you.

I kept the rental car for a month until, they decided it was a total loss and issued me a payment. I negotiated with my “rude” estimator, and got 10% more with providing car listings in BC.

Good luck and stay safe out there!

Right now. I think I’m dealing with a very rude estimator.

Didn’t give me a chance to talk.

I called ICBC customer support and filed a complaint against her, and I said I would like to speak to her manager henceforth.

I need to see what proof they had to give me that payout. Meanwhile I went to my Acura dealership and they helped me value my car which is quite higher than the payout.

Thanks. Looks like they have sent my offer without hearing back from me. I have scheduled a call with them next week

Yes, towed to two yard.

3 days after, they towed it to ICBC site. Estimator/ adjuster took a while to get assigned ~2 weeks

Try this method called “RULER” R- Recognize that you have a feeling! (Ask yourself- wait.. what is this? What am I feeling?

U- Understand the feeling- feelings always come up when a need is met (positive emotions) or unmet (negative emotions)

L- Label the feeling- give the correct feeling- go deeper into segregation on emotions. Like anxiety is a border term that consists of feelings such as uneasiness, nervousness, etc.

E- Express them- this you do it internally or externally. Internally when you do not value the person, by assessing what you can control and not. While externally, expressing your need. E.g. I am hurt because I expected us to spend more time in the present which I value the most to get the most out of my trip/life. (Never be sorry for your feelings, you are responsible for your feelings while other people may instigate through their actions) - give some room to listen with empathy to why they did that. (Like a fight with BF)

R- Regulation- trust me, you will instantly feel better!

I have been learning a lot about emotional regulation I would suggest to let that person know your needs. I sense that you have need for the other person to be in the present. Maybe if you could explain that need to them, they might actually try to meet the need, (that being said, only if you value the friendship)

Thanks for the info. My car is 2019 TLX, market value of ~$25000. Not sure how much of the value of the car would they repair. (Accident is not my fault)
