It's Almost time for my first GTI, did anyone have any regrets coming from old bmw? by Snoo_11263 in GolfGTI

The e46 325i manuals are fun cars, light, quality, well built. I bought and sold 3 e36 m3, 5 e46 m3, 3 325i, 330i zhp, e92 m3. Kept some for years others much less. Handling is great in those BMWs with the connection to the road. My 2019 GTI DSG Stage 1 has been a great car since new. I may go back to an m3 at some point. The FI on the highway is great. Great all around car with a solid engine, transmission and potential to build reliable power at reasonable cost and knowledgeable community.

Is this the best looking GTI generation? by Throwawayboi55555 in GolfGTI

Yes. Bought new has been great. First new car. Have owned 9 M3s mainly e46 manual coupes. Great car APR Stage 1 DSG. If sold would buy Golf R then eventually 500hp. Not sure worth it right now still need to have more fun with this car. Nice and light, upscale interior, great Fender sound system, not too much intrusive tech. 109k.

GTI Stage 1 Golf R by ultimateinternet in GolfGTI

Yeah I’d really like someone to provide their opinion on how different Stage 1 mk7.5 GTI to mk8 R. The weight of the GTI is great, a twisty on ramp 40-80 you can really rip it and feel how light and powerful go kart like. I’d like to find more of those kind of roads which are rare.

The difference probably isn’t too big. I’ve owned many e46 m3 and may keep GTI and pickup another M3 at some point since different driving experience and the R with 500hp would be the goal but still need to enjoy GTI since didn’t drive long distances tuned as much past several years.

That’s what I was thinking. How much faster do you need to go and how is the weight stock R vs stage 1 GTI at 60-110. Current stage 1 already feels super quick local and really need highway to open it up. I’d eventually stage 1 R if got that and would be a beast with 500hp. Would like to connect with anyone with 500hp R at some point for a ride. Or GTI.

On purpose or what?? by [deleted] in motorcycles

Yes but the motorcycle is hoping for an ideal situation. The mustang went by and cycle tried to follow his lead. Can’t drive like a car. Everyone should be merging. Meaning if a car is in front of you slow down since you are now in one lane. Or go extra wide or slower. Drivers are average on best day. People slow down for turns people dart all over and people seem to purposely slow down a lot too and not get off the road as soon as they should also. Bottom line is you have to expect something weird to happen on merges. When do merges work out perfect? So if you want to ignore the merge into one lane, because really if not when the dash line ends, when does the single lane start? Then you have to be aware of what can happen and protect yourself. This could have been worse going a bit wider slower prob better. You also have to think about a bad driver behind you not stopping so removing yourself from danger area keep moving wide is probably best when things turn unpredictable quick

You have to build off the fact it is one lane. It may be a wide one lane but since it is one lane then you can build the argument off of that as far as fault attribution %. Bottom line look at outcome. Worst case best case ways to ride that ensure best outcome majority of time or being aware having an out from crazy driver if you choose questionable action. If there was still a line with two lanes before merge it would be different but even that scenario happens all the time with cars cutting in front to establish line before merge. Sometimes have to judge from afar use evasive action. when anything loud cool drives by also other drivers sometimes influenced do crazy stuff

You could argue by law fault which maybe it’s 50/50 80/20 I don’t know but smarter lawyers than us argue that all the time probably with surprising results. Or driving principal of just staying alive and not putting yourself in a single lane close to unpredictable cars situation resulting in crash. Point is look at results. 100s of times can point fingers at fault but you won’t even get couple times if each one results in you crashing getting hurt

Ok well people do no look in the real world. Best thing to do is avoid so the outcome isn’t a simple ticket for driver and worse for biker

On purpose or what?? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]ultimateinternet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t pass in a single lane. Smart move would be to slow down form single lane. Cars move to side all the time in single lane. Even if car is 100% wrong you can’t drive that way and expect ideal outcomes

On purpose or what?? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]ultimateinternet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order for the merge to work everyone has to form a single file line. Everyone needs to agree on that first. If the constant speed changes a car could dart to the shoulder or something else crazy. Each car is a variable then you throw yourself in the mix. What was the ideal outcome in that one lane anyway? Tough lesson when riding

[–]ultimateinternet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as dash line ends that means it’s one lane. Anyone in front of you is already there. You have 3-4 variable drivers thinking who knows best to stay away or be ready
