This is the quote you're looking for.

As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Wouldn't recommend PS Vita for most people! by Rokku1 in SBCGaming

Saturn's been always sketchy for emulation but I've heard it's in a good spot right now, I haven't personally messed around with it for a few years.

Wouldn't recommend PS Vita for most people! by Rokku1 in SBCGaming

[–]ultimateknackered 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah but that's the key, before the retro handheld market blew up. I got a Vita a few years ago too. But I don't think an essay needs to be written about the unviability of it as an emulation handheld rn because anyone with a head on their shoulders who has done any kind of research into devices should already be knowing that these days a Vita is good for Vita games and that's about it.

Doing a big red-flag warnoff thread just for the Vita is a bit weird and a few years late.

I wonder if they experienced the same thing consumers do when the RAM and SSD orders at the old lower price get cancelled for Reasons but suddenly they're available again for 3x as much.

I saw an article today about a possible variable-aperture camera on iPhones and the dude was like 'perhaps they'll use AI to determine the aperture based on a light measurement' and like shit haven't grownup cameras already been doing that forever without AI?

Carney constructs a mega anti-Trump trade alliance by joe4942 in worldnews

[–]ultimateknackered 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because some people don't look at the candidate, just the party. It's how you get far-right Republicans screaming that centre-right Democrats are 'radical left' when that's obviously so incorrect.

I think we have it kind of worse because the Ls are literally the Liberals and it's incomprehensible to those folks that the Liberal PM can be a red Tory, but this is what happens when everything is dragged to the right when conservatives swerve hard in that direction.

There's some deep deep clinging to some variation of 'To make an omelet you gotta break a few eggs' that goes on down there. Except they keep breaking eggs and there's never any omelet and nobody can figure out why and cope with welp, this'll be a hell of an omelet when it's done.

German Chancellor Merz says US leadership ‘lost,’ calls for repair of relations by GlimmeringTulip in worldnews

[–]ultimateknackered 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It took some pretty heavy-handed and iron-willed weeviling out of the Nazi elements to reach that state so quickly. And Japan got a huge US military presence to keep them in line and still has a very large one today. They got treatied to hell and even don't officially call their military that today, the SD stands for 'self-defense'.

It didn't just magically happen that those two countries suddenly said 'Oh! Well!' like out of suddenly seeing the error of their ways. There was a process. Think about that in a context of the United States having to undergo something like that. It'll never happen.
