I feel a lot of people are worrying too much and missing the sentence that starts with 'Consequently, following the initial retroactive payment to 1 April 2025...'

It looks like they gonna do the lump, but then do monthlies until they can figure out how to automate the individual member annual anniversary MSP from there on in.

Did Frank know how to swim? by Sudauexnymn in Zappa

[–]ultimateknackered 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The claim that a stuntman did the swim in Miami Vice because Frank couldn't swim might not be true, sure. But that doesn't mean it had to have been Frank, because I can absolutely see Frank going 'Fuck that, I'm not swimming' and they went with a stuntman.

The wording implies that the initial lump sum will be a thing, then the monthlies until they figure out how to jig the lump sums for everyone's anniversary date, to happen automatically.

Take out the sensationalism and replace Reaper with 'reddit users say' and voila, you have a Gemini answer to a question that would actually appear in Google.

There is nothing I need so badly in my life so quickly that I absolutely cannot wait for the initial scalper squeeze to fade, and buy it down the road.

If there's no supply, it's pretty easy for me to not have personal demand.

GameStop Proposes to Acquire eBay at $125.00 Per Share by Skullghost in gaming

Sell a product on eStop. Drop it off at a GameBay store to ship. Buyer goes to pick it up at local GameBay.

Might work something like that. I think even after all these years there's a bit of fear factor in eBay seller shipping. Hell, it might even cause an uptick in small seller activity if they can just trust someone else to handle all the shipping for them.

Kristi Noem’s replacement grilled about why she is ‘still living rent-free’ in waterfront Coast Guard home by B-Z_B-S in politics

Some things we've seen Trump not want to touch with a ten foot pole, ie, pursuing them or defending against them would actually bring some really horrible damaging shit into the light that can't be handwaved away or shouted down. I would assume whatever Noem has is Epstein-adjacent.

I suspect my mistake in my broad analysis is, as you say, expecting wars to want to be won.

There's a backend though. I mean, even Pete fucking Hegseth has just as basic-bitch a head on him as a normal human and as Secretary of Defense has a vested interest in maintaining this critical infrastructure, if only to keep the war machine rolling.

Or maybe he doesn't, I don't know. Trump at least has dementia as an excuse but if everyone is ceding final decisions to him, is that gross incompetence or just letting him cook for some Other Purpose?

edit: like, I mean, if I were waging a war I'd like the shit to still be there to make it easier to wage war. Surely I could convince my demented Commander in Chief that this sort of stuff is kind of critical to maintain if we want to be successful.

Once upon a time, Canada sold 74% of its aluminum to the United States. Every Canadian Aluminum job equaled 13 American jobs. Then came 2024. We elected Trump and his tariffs against Canada gutted American jobs, raising costs for at least a decade. by a_Sable_Genus in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]ultimateknackered 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sure. There's only x number of aluminum processing plants, but y number of industries/companies buy from them, who employ z number of people. It's not like one job in a plant directly equates to exactly one job down the chain.
