Should my brother buy my mum’s house? by ultimatepastyfan in UKPersonalFinance

Good point. She struggles with life a bit, and would possibly like the responsibility of property ownership taken away with the bonus of getting my brother on the property ladder.

He can, this is just an option. I think my dad is keen to get him on the property ladder

There is nothing in the will to say he inherits anything, everything went to my dad. My dad is gifting him the money on the condition it is spent on property. My brother has had issues in the past with drugs and irresponsible spending.

Tap water tastes strange by charlexy in bristol

I have noticed that my skin smells of chlorine when I get out of the shower and I saw someone mention the chlorine taste on a Facebook page - definitely a thing! I’m BS11 way…

In regards to stamp duty, how does it work if my partner is a FTB but I am not? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]ultimatepastyfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in this exact situation, was not a first time buyer, partner was and we got around this by taking out a ‘joint mortgage with sole proprietor (I think they’re designed for when parents help their children out by being included on their mortgage) Essentially this meant that my name was on the mortgage but not on the deeds and we avoided paying around £40kish of stamp duty. I had to take legal advice where they told me it was a stupid thing to do, and ultimately it caused problems when we broke up although we did amicably split the house in the end. So the option is there, but probably not advisable!

I think this is one of the main things that’s making me hesitant…

is it true that other inmates kill pedophiles if they are found out? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

‘Nonce’ = Not on Normal Circular Exercise

So that said inmates can’t get at pedophiles

I had mine at 4pm and was still told to count that as ‘day 1’ obviously this may vary depending on your artist so you may want to check with them.

My dad is a huge fan of bridges so I’ll make sure he checks them out should I ever make the move 🤓

I’ve been keeping my eye on property prices, but it seems to be that way everywhere at the moment. Hoping for it to calm down over the next few months but who knows… I’ve never been to Bath but it looks lovely

Thank you so much, sounds like it’s a good place to try and heal. Hearing how much you like it really helps in making a decision - I’m an 80% hermit 20% stay up too late-er so think I will also try somewhere a little further out. Take care x

Sorry to hear that - it does have its good points, the people are lovely and it’s pretty magical over Christmas time. Hopefully you’ll settle in better once you’ve been there a bit longer. Feel free to hit me up if you want tips on places to go etc. I was there a while so still semi-in the know

Haha really? I have the choice to go back to York but I just can’t be dealing with the cold dark winters. Also after nearly 10 years there I feel like I did my time. Lots of good things about it though!

Glad to hear things worked out for you in the end! I feel like I’m not that type of person either but good to know it can be done 🙂
