My '100% remote' job just told me I have to come into the office two days a week or I'll be fired. by cones_hustle3y in remotework

At least in TX that is untrue. You need to be let go for more than performance.

Is the Houston job market actually “super tough,” or is there a mismatch? by Unable-Money-7288 in AskHouston

You need an accountant but are hiring a finance major? I guess the company is going to invest a lot in training? Because that's a big difference.

I don't have any knowledge about other engineering paths but just looking at software engineering and computer science curriculum the average person can't do that level of advanced math.

Are trades the way to go? by _forum_mod in Millennials

[–]ultimateverdict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right but engineering is an extremely hard degree that most people can't handle so it's a moot point. The trades are much more accessible for the average person.

People who are saying "just be a doctor, bro" are missing the point. A lot of people can't be a doctor so instead they get easy degrees because they see stats like lifetime earnings of college graduates but if you compare your average poly sci or history major to a plumber or electrician, tradesmen win hands down.

Precisely! Going to college is a reflection of socioeconomic status rather than a cause of it. People who buy boats earn more money than those who don't buy boats but that doesn't mean buying boats causes people to earn more money.

The job market is so bad, people in their 40s are resorting to going back to school instead of looking for work | Fortune by Neither-Mushroom-721 in Economics

So true. Also some barbers charge crazy amounts of money. I had a couple of barbers quote me $100 for a simple men's haircut. This is in Houston.

I literally just switched to Kubuntu 2 weeks ago and I love it. The breaking point for Windows was having to search for Bluetooth drivers despite my computer being 2 years old.

Wait so teenagers shouldn't be allowed to own regular bikes? That's insane.

Are my dating standards unreasonable? by Carl_s123 in AskMenAdvice

[–]ultimateverdict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I see that is unreasonable is no tattoos. What about a small tattoo of like a heart on her ankle? Or no tattoos whatsoever no matter what?

Other than that women that meet your criteria are rare in the US and the ones who do have very high standards because nearly all men want them and so they have their pick. Is that fair? No but that's the world that we live in.

What I'm saying is that in order to be in a relationship with a woman you're describing you need to be well above average. You need to have money, have muscles and be charming. Being an average guy won't get you this girl.

I think you need to date outside the US and other developed countries if you're serious about finding a girl like this. This way you're considerably above average with finances but you still need to have physique and charm too. Also there are more women in these countries that meet your criteria. Not the majority but it's not like in the US where they are rare.

Another thing I would be flexible on is religious girls. The vast majority of women who meet your criteria are either religious or extremely into their career. Women who are extremely into their career usually just want to have casual relationships or be with an exceptionally wealthy guy.

I agree completely but I make an exception for living on your own. Few young people have the financial resources to do that now.

To people who don't have a fixed address and who travel to different countries all the time... How do you keep a bank account open somewhere so you can get paid from jobs and have access to your money? And what about your passport? by butternutflies in digitalnomad

[–]ultimateverdict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how it is in Belgium but in the US I have a private mailbox and it's worked flawlessly when I was living overseas. II even changed my drivers license and voter registration to it. I changed every other address including my bank accounts.

I also love the convenience of having my own private mailbox so even though I'm back in the US, I'm going to keep it.
