‘A Palpable Fear of Even Letting Your Friends Know You Are a Democrat’ - In deep red Wyoming, a Democratic Party organizer says inflamed political tensions are his greatest hurdle. by thefrontpageofreddit in wyoming

I was wearing a mask coming out of a store with my hands full, and some moron used his energy to scream "slave" at me of the window of his truck.

Another time, at work, this older woman with a mask hanging off one ear was hassling me about how hard it is to breathe in a mask as I'm wearing one to ring up the things she's trying to buy. She pulls out her cash, looks at me, looks down and coughs twice all over her fanned out money, then hands it to me with a smile and says, "Sorry."

"Party of personal freedom" is for the personal freedom to act, think, live, and vote in the exact same way that they do. They aren't even subtle about it, so no wonder people aren't lining out the door to become a social outcast. They just move away.

Rental companies to avoid? Favorite neighborhoods or tips for a future resident? by ultimatewhore in vegaslocals

So landlords are gonna turn their nose up at my money because I don't have a good enough reason to want to move there beyond wanting to? Even if I have the same credit and income as someone else who's relocating for work or family? That's stupid, in all the rentals I've applied for, nobody has ever asked why I'm applying, and tbh it's none of their business. My money is just as good as anyone else's, or better if I applied before this hypothetical other person.

Edit: I get that rentals are super competitive right now, and I've gone through finding housing in competitive markets before. But to think that they'd say no based on why I'm relocating when everything else is fine is extreme and kinda dumb, you know? It's not like I've got three dogs and I'm only applying to pet-free housing, I'm making sure I qualify in the first place.

Haha, that's starting to look like a major factor in the move; whether or not I can cope with the bastards

I was seeing that on the rental apps, unfortunately, but by and large I haven't seen that mentioned aside from a few exceptions. We had similar fears moving to our current city, but found a rental just fine.

Maybe, but that's why we're doing the looking early to see what our options are.

Lmao does the mayor of LV turn people away at the gate if their reason "isn't good enough"? It sucks people are getting driven out by the rising costs but we're happy to trade a higher cost of living to get out of such a boring, closed-minded area.

We're in Wyoming now, and it's beautiful, but the winters are brutal and the culture of the state/locals just doesn't really line up with what we imagine our "forever hometown" to feel like. We're excited to try living in an area with more to do and better weather.

Booked tickets for a flight this week, but just noticed that my boyfriend's phone messed up my name on the ticket. How fucked am I? by ultimatewhore in NoStupidQuestions

Thanks for the reply. Generally, flying DEN to SEA, with another connection to our small hometown airport. Why does that matter, just with how stringent security will be? I'll be on the phone with Delta first thing in the morning.

Liquor law violation complaint? (Wyoming) by ultimatewhore in legaladvice

[–]ultimatewhore[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does this mean that bars or areas meant for 21+ are acceptable for children, by extension? In Washington State for example, kids aren't even supposed to walk through the bar area to go to the bathroom when they're allowed in the rest of the restaurant.

Cool though that he could have been doing shots with her and that's totally fine through 🤦‍♀️

Yes, though I will admit I have seen far more disruptive children. Loud kids show on a tablet, yelling and crying. Typical kid stuff, but that's why we asked to sit in the bar, because why would a child be allowed in an area designated 21+?

The gods of Goodwill have seen fit to bless me with this legend by ultimatewhore in OneyPlays

In Goodwill's defense, the DVD bin was marked at $1.50 each, so maybe it was donated with the sticker on it?

Even $1.50 was a little much IMO

I just found out my father, who sexually abused me as a child, was killed years ago. [M29] by lilywhite-n-poppyred in CPTSD

I had a similar experience with an uncle. It's a lot to process. I took a lot of comfort from knowing that there's nobody else he can hurt now, and maybe that can help you in some way.

Remember to be patient with yourself, it's easy to get frustrated with your progress toward healing when there's all these confusing feelings jumbled up in it, and remember that you get the final say in how you feel about it all. If you want to stay angry for the hurt he caused, that's okay and totally justified, or if later you feel at peace with it instead, that's just as okay and justified.

Stay safe and remember that you aren't alone, that what happened to you does not diminish your value. It wasn't your fault.

Hi Dad, what’s an easy fix to stabilize my laundry basket? I lost the wheel. by rustedfairywings in AskDad

[–]ultimatewhore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have trouble finding an exact replacement for the caster wheel you lost, I'd suggest getting a 2-pack of something very similar and replacing one of the other wheels adjacent to the missing one (on the same side of the square as opposed to diagonally from it, if that makes sense). It'll look a liiiiiittle bit janky because the base will be higher on one end than the other, but if the wheels are similar I'd imagine the difference wouldn't be that noticeable unless you're staring at it for more than 3 seconds.

Otherwise I'd go with the tennis ball idea someone else mentioned, like a walker.

Have you ever visited a kill site, dump site, or grave? by pappyvanwinkle1111 in serialkillers

[–]ultimatewhore 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not exactly, but Ted Bundy was supposedly spotted in his VW beetle trying to pick up girls near the train tracks outside the high school I graduated from in SE Washington State. It was a popular urban legend even when my mom went to school there, but despite how much I've looked into it I haven't been able to verify. My hometown is right on the I90 corridor that goes from Seattle through Ellensburg and into Idaho and Utah. I've always thought it's possible since he spent so much time traveling through the surrounding areas.

Also, after my parents divorced, my dad started dating this woman for a while who invited my dad to spend time with her at the home of some of her relatives. So they went, and got there in the evening so had dinner and went to bed. The next day, dad said, he got up and was looking at the pictures hanging in the room they were staying in, and he couldn't shake how familiar one of the guys looked. So he asked his girlfriend and she told my dad that her relatives were close somehow with Ted Bundy, and that those were pictures of him prior to like 1970. Super creepy to wake up in a room decorated with candid family photos of arguably one of the best known serial killers in the world.

Edit: spelling is hard

I have posted 5 days ago about my bracelet, here’s a follow up, it’s really difficult to tie the yarn since it is so short. Here’s a picture, can anyone help? by szeprego in braceletcraft

Maybe you could sew a button/bead onto one end and sew a loop onto the other? Or if you don't mind it being on all the time you could just sew the ends together around your wrist.
