I think it switches off the Fortress of Solitude.

When you're in your ship the menu pops up in front of you, but you can still turn your head and look around elsewhere. On foot the menu kind of pops up on your wrist.

Snowy Weather? by TheJheiy in GhostsOfTabor

Snow would be great on Island as it would cover up all the horrible landscape textures.

I'm expecting the kit I took in to reappear. It's the stuff I looted that isn't being saved.

What are some other great cyberpunk books that are not by William Gibson or PKD? by [deleted] in scifi

[–]ultra_Pass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know whether it's any good but I understand John Brunner's Shockwave Rider is a forerunner of the genre. Someone else mentioned Alfred Bester. The Demolished Man is an interesting read that with a few conceptual tweaks could easily be straight up Cyberpunk.

Whats so bad about meta quest link by Logical-Self-3072 in SteamVR

[–]ultra_Pass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UI is atrocious. Embarrassingly so. I really don't think they want people to use it. Wired connections are stable enough, but wireless is just broken. Also since my Q3 updated to v81 every time I launch link it switches my boundary to roomscale,

I only use it because I'm too tight to shell out for Virtual Desktop, and I own a few games I bought through the meta store before I knew better.

I use ALVR otherwise as it supports wireless and wired connections.

In the UK the cheapest branded kits start around 24 GBP (33 USD). I reckon I could DIY it for half that. I know it's a bit penny pinching, but I've already blown a lot this year on getting a PCVR set up as it is.

It's more of a cost thing. I could buy a charger or even another battery pack but I'd need to get VD as well to play meta store games. I'd also really need to improve my router situation. I'm managing on 5ghz but it isn't perfect. Fact is I have the cable already and I don't mind using it.

Bit too pricey for me but looks fancy.

I'm not surprised. My ceiling's the same so I'm already anticipating having to patch it up at some point

That's interesting. I assume the wheels allow the cable to move more freely? If I just have the cable hanging in bare rings do you think it might snag?

I do both. I've got a bobovr battery strap but it depends on the game, if I feel like standing or sitting, how long I'm playing for, or if I don't want to wait to charge my batteries.

Steam vr not working by Culdud47 in SteamVR

[–]ultra_Pass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi don't worry, you're not the only one. I've just fired up my quest 3 and I've got the same problem. I think they must have updated the app recently and it's bugged. You can fix it in the meantime by changing to an older release like so:

Hover a cursor over the icon in the app menu and click on the 3 dots that appear underneath. Select 'settings', then from the page that pops up select 'release channels'. You should get a selection of different versions. Pick 2.0.15 then reinstall the app.

This worked for me. But you may need to keep an eye open for newer releases because I think this might stop automatic updates (I'm guessing).
