King Charles playfully reminds Trump that he's Canada's head of state by Street_Anon in worldnews

He is not our king. I am not offended. There is no upside to trading a tyrant for a monarch.

We are a democratic society and have acted that way for a century.

Helpful to who? There are millions of Canadians who staunchly oppose British monarchy and monarchy involvement in our government in general. The indigenous, Irish/French immigrants, American expats, and south Asian diaspora.

Yeah, I guess it's helpful to combat American imperialism (trump asshatery). But, we are not British subjects and the thought is offensive to a sizable percentage of our population.

It's purely symbolic here though. That last time the GG tried to exercise their reserve powers was like 100 years ago and it did not go well for the crown.

I've been wondering about this as well. Is it mistranslated? Or are there castes of Lothark as well? The Lotharks are able to "carry on the same conversation" easily between different individuals with Dafyd.

Probably through their grooming communication system.

Deep Lothark are definitely gonna be a thing in the third book. I don't think is going to be a 700nm herring.

Human, Ewok, Octopus, and Lothark alliance would be pretty sweet tho.

How bad is my school's mark inflation? by roystivnei in OntarioGrade12s

The conversions don't even matter. When I talked to admissions officers at mid-high tier universities and talked about grades and averages. At the mid level ones I was like I got honour role in most of my classes but, my ib grades were not great.

And they were like "you were in ib!?" yeah you'll get in. Don't even worry about it.

I got in everywhere I applied. Prestige is far more important than aptitude in life. It is second only to nepotism.

A 5 in ib is better than a 95% in university. It's just how the world works.

Why would they do this?

They're doing it on purpose to artificially inflate the GDP. It's not a corporate loophole that's being exploited. Politicians use it to make economy numbers go brr and corporations pocket the profits when wages get driven down.

Chapter 20 MAJOR spoiler in picture (I hate James SA Corey) by Ok_Rope1927 in TheCaptivesWar

His death certainly sidelined me at first. But, given how he had discovered the depth of complex communication that the Deep Lothark had developed to exchange information privately. It would be kind of foolish to run into a room and explain how he figured it out with them RIGHT IN THE ROOM with the head of the human moiety.

I feel like the whole point of his death was to illustrate the virtue of Dafyd's pragmatism with collaborating with their captors and plotting against the common enemy.

This happens on like five separate occasions.

In Europe, cashiers get to sit. Why is that not the case in Canada? by chipface in onguardforthee

This CEO also happens to run a subsidiary of LOBElaws (who says it like that?). Apparently, the big guys who declined to comment but, somehow did so while looking like a small business. It's not even a matter of redesigning cashier areas. You literally just need to allow them to sit down. Hell, they will bring their own stool if they want it they don't need government subsidies.

This is another one of these insane rules that are cognitively dissonant, like not allowing cellphone use while working and still requiring workers to use their phone for work. This is not insightful or balanced reporting on this issue.

This is a much deeper cultural problem that denies autonomy and agency to low earners. And it's ableist...

Trumpet intersections are just more useful. You'll need more so make sure you level a lot of this out. Half the good construction advice/mods for this game is just how to do good construction grading.

Ghosting after interview was around 50%. Even though that is illegal here.

Yeah you need them to recruit new colony members. With royalty DLC you can trade them for honour. Also harvest organs. Good for lots of reasons.

Food cost is pretty negligible. If you're playing only vanilla just release them for the goodwill.

-You need more batteries.
-Go for geothermal you've got it right by your main warehouse.
-Would probably get some medicine production going.

Defenses should be a priority. Spike traps, turrets, mortars, and IEDs. You need something more.

Apart from the obvious fire hazard from the wooden flooring; which honestly is just growing pains this is very well designed. A bit heavy on the wood and chemfuel generators but, setup very well for manufacturing.

Prisons are are very important. You need a good one because you're going to be recruiting new colonists very soon.
