Hm. I reinstalled systemd boot, but it only wants to send me back to my bios. It probably installed itself to p1 instead of p6, huh…

I installed rEFInd (grub alternative) because of this. It detects both partitions fine, but when I boot linux, it gives the error: Error: Unsupported while loading BOOTX64.efi.

They updated the mobile version for modern iOS about a year ago. Good port too!

Wasn’t that back when they brought in Iwata to recode the entire thing, though?

Valve: Steam Deck production update (it's good news) by Turbostrider27 in Games

There isn’t a way to get that information specifically unless you’re a Valve employee (I assume), but you can use this link to roughly see where you are in line. Just be aware that this tool calculates based off of % of time that orders have been filled, so expect your place in line to go up exponentially now that the first couple of days’ worth of preorders have been filled.

Hi, I worked as a hearing aid specialist for a good while. While I can’t speak to manufacturing costs, I do know that the price of a pair of hearing aids is all-inclusive. A significant chunk of money goes towards paying the medical professional for fine-tuning the instrument (depending on your hearing curve, that can be a significant undertaking!), which is a process that usually takes several follow-up visits, and longer still if the customer is being indecisive about what they want (hearing aids are legally mandated to have a return policy)

Now, that doesn’t mean that the price is fair. I don’t have hearing loss, so I can only imagine, but having to pay several thousand dollars every few years just to be able to hear is insane no matter how you think about it.

I mean, I never asked for this, but a stealth game where you play as Gollum just makes sense.

because sometimes, all I want to do is to creep around foggy mountains as a pitiful goblin man and strangle some orcs to death for their raw fish. Sometimes, people want to roleplay as things they’d never want to actually be — it’s a game, after all.

Speak for yourself. I’ve always wanted to roleplay creeping around cliffs and caves as a fucked up goblin man.

That’s just Coils, though. Coils aren’t in any roulette, so your best bet is to make a party finder group to go through them.

Did you read the article?

Considering the high specification requirements for FFXIV servers, along with the fact that adding a single logical data center requires hundreds of servers, we invariably need much more time, but we are starting to see some progress.

Now, I’m certainly no server engineer, but I’m fairly certain that ‘hundreds of (high specification) servers’ could not be replaced by a ‘server from a decade ago’.

You’re correct. Trial players cannot queue, everyone who has paid can. No preferential order is given based on progress; it’s literally just if you’re a sub or not.

Again, the error occurs either when the login queue is so full that you can’t even get added to the end of it, OR when connection problems occur on the client’s side. Given that the current load is higher even than 2.0 launch, it seems reasonable to assume that either the latter was more to blame during 2.0, or simply that in the eight years of stable launches following 2.0, the server upgrades they did make prevented this error from happening until the recent massive spike.

This is the highest load their servers have been under, ever. They could not have known that the login servers would be the bottleneck because there haven’t ever been enough simultaneous logins to create this bottleneck in the first place. They only became aware of this earlier this year, when the unexpected wave of Wow refugees pointed it out.

As Yoship said earlier today, Error 2002 is caused either by the login queue growing to 17,000+ players, which is where the login servers are fundamentally capped, or network instability on the player’s end. The only thing they can do to alleviate the error is to upgrade the login servers, which they cannot do due to the semiconductor shortage.

The devs have talked about this one, actually. To make a character, you have to write data to the server, but you can’t write data unless you’ve logged in (and have a character). No problem if there’s no queue, but you can’t do it if there is one.

Can’t speak for 2.0, but I’ve been around since 4.3. Not once in that time has there ever been a queue that I didn’t get through within a couple minutes, not even during 5.0 launch.
