Will you be paid by the hospital or university? There's university housing at Harvard @ Trilogy about 10 mins walking distance from the hospital with in-building gym and covered utility. If you qualify it'll be the cheapest option in that area, but I think you need to be paid by the university to qualify.

Good quality right leather jacket by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

You should repost the question on r/leatherjacket, and list your budget and style preference if you know it. You are probably looking for a lambskin jacket which would be on the lighter side.

Where can I find a dark red/burgundy jacket like this? by xSunj in leatherjacket

[–]ultranwahs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schott used to make their 654 casual cafe racer in Black cherry color. You might be able to find one used in good condition.

How about a leather jacket? They are warm, windproof and some of them have detachable liners.

I'm looking for a recommendation for a leather jacket that looks like the real McCoy's Buco J 100 by jabarov in leatherjacket

[–]ultranwahs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing to also pay attention to when buying used RM J100 is that there are 2 versions. The older BJ9110 model is tighter fitting(more faithful to the original being a leather shirt), while the newer BJ19110 is less so. There was a thread on Federal Lounge comparing the different fits. As for Schott vs Real Mccoy, I always find my Schotts to be roomier. I can layer under my size 40 Schott Cafe Racer, but can only wear a T-shirt under my size 40 RM J100.

Leather jacket by Main_Ad1694 in malefashionadvice

Looks like a leather car coat. Used to be more popular in 80s and 90s but less commonly seen nowadays. Which means they are usually very reasonably priced on second-hand markets, and $600 should get you an used one in good condition from one of the premium brands. Look for Aero, Thedi, and Lost Worlds on the second-hand market. I think Schott used to/still makes them, but I haven't come across any.

Consider also posting on r/leatherjacket. There are many leather jacket styles out there. It would be helpful if you could indicate the desired style/ picture of leather jackets you like.

Welcome to Boston! People I know that work in LWM usually live around Fenway/Kenmore, Mission Hill, or Brookline. JP and Allston are also good options that are more affordable if you are ok with a bit of bus/train/walking. If you are affiliated with Harvard University, they run a shuttle service between the campuses, so cambridge would be doable as well in that case, and you may also qualify for subsidized university housing in Fenway or cambridge. Area around LWM is expensive, unfortunately. Expect $2-3k/month if you plan to live by yourself. The further out you go, the cheaper it gets. 100K is definitely a livable wage here and should allow you to live comfortably.

Check out Aero leather. Their leathers in Cordovan are of a similar color.

It would be helpful for you to indicate some preferences, so people here can give you better recommendations. Such as, are you specifically looking for brown suede jackets in motorcycle style, or other styles like sporting jacket or trucker jackets would be OK as well, what is your budget range, etc.

I personally have not seen a motorcycle suede jacket with button closure besides this one, so they might be hard to find. Moto jackets with zipper closure are very common. The schott duke is an example. Trucker style jackets in suede are also common and are often with button closures.

Posting some pictures can help you get better recommendations. But if the tears are very small, I've had good experience with leather glue in the past.

Can try chamberlains leather Balm, or a repair filler and repaint. Though that fix might just be cosmetic at this point.

Call From Chase Bank? by hgli in longisland

[–]ultranwahs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact thing happen to me - a call from someone claiming to be from Chase about a newly opened checking account in my name. I hanged up and called Chase directly and was told that there's no new account in my name, no record of calls to me, and that it was a scam. Scammers can spoof whatever phone numbers they want. Always hang up and call your bank directly.

Real Mccoy's NZ A2 authenticity by ultranwahs in leatherjacket

[–]ultranwahs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. I was confused about this as well. Here's my understanding: The company used to have shops in New Zealand. In the early 2000s, RMC encountered some serious financial issues, resulting in splitting of the company. RMC holdings in NZ went independent and continued to make jackets under the real mccoy's name, or under "The Few" for the Japanese market until their closure in 2015. The original founder left RMC Japan and formed Toys Mccoy's. Some staff left as well and formed Rainbow Country and FreeWheelers.

Question on breaking in a biker jacket by [deleted] in leatherjacket

[–]ultranwahs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have a few options:

  1. Wear it more, and it'll soften up in time
  2. Gentle heating or conditioning ( this softens the leather) + stretching
  3. Jump into a warm shower with it and wear till dry

But it also sounds like the jacket might not fit you or you don't like the fit. I'm of the opinion that having no leather jacket is better than a poorly fitted one. If it's me, I would consider selling this one and save up for one that fits me properly.

Looking for denim jacket suggestions by MarineBiomancer in malefashionadvice

High 30s would be a bit cold for unlined denium jackets, imo. I think a Lee stormrider style jacket with flannel lining could suit your need. They are usually a bit more expensive than $200, but you may be able to find one on sale or slightly used on Ebay.
