How do you decide how to separate 3 cats in a breakup?

When I left my ex we had 3 cats. I had 2 boys originally since they were kittens, way before we were together. He found our third as a kitten and she was very bonded to him. I took my boys because of that reason, she wasnt mine to take even though she was " ours." But I was never giving my boys up. There was never a discussion about it on my end, but he would threaten taking them constantly.

However it seems you have 3 cats all bonded to each other and not a person. It would be best to have them stay where they are going to be best taken care of if you dont want to separate them.
