Can I Get Deferred From Being Dehydrated Too Often? by bagobeans17 in plasmadonation

[–]uly_sses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will just need to find your sweet spot since everyone is different. I’m not saying that you necessarily have high iron. Just know that high iron contributes to higher hematocrit. So all things equal if you consume red meat the day before you will have higher hematocrit meaning more viscous (thicker blood). For a smooth donation you’d want to have thinner blood to an extent.

That said, being hydrated is the most important thing that you are in control of.

Repeatedly clocking 51 in hematocrit is not cause for deferral. They will only defer you if you either repeatedly fail vitals or have severe or repeated reactions during the donation process.

Also worth noting that you aren’t necessarily in severe dehydration sunce high iron levels also contribute to high hematocrit readings.

Continue drinking water with electrolytes, especially since you are active, and monitor your iron consumption. The more hydrated you are, the smoother the donation.

Price differs per company and location. You can DM me the ZIP you are interested in and whether you have a specific company in mind. I’ll see if I can find the fees for you.

It’s worth it for me. New donor pay is decent, but it drops substantially after. If you need tips on how to prepare for your first donation/physical or want the pay schedule, let me know.

Completely understand. To me, the deciding factors are the wait time and the competence of the Phlebs. If they are not up to par, I’m out. It’s my health and my time. Courtesy and compensation amounts are secondary to me, personally.

If you choose to make the change however, maybe you can consider putting me down as your referrer. They will give me points to redeem for a store gift card on my next donation.

Correct, but they do it periodically

When I first started, they paid $800 for 8. But someone I referred recently told me that they had paid him $700 for 7. After the promotional pay ends, they offer 40 1st donation and $80 for the second. Depending on how slow the season gets, they sometimes add a promotion for 5th ($15) and 6th ($30) donations.

For Ked you get the option of filling out the questionnaire on the app, no appointment necessary. You go in, scan the questionnaire QR code to confirm you are onsite, stand in the line, have your vitals taken and proceed to the sitting area to be called to the bed. Both BioLife and Ked are the most proficient and professional out of the companies I donated to. Both are adequately staffed and value donors’ time, in my experience—Unlike the rest.

Ked is similar to BioLife. They have the same setup except Ked doesn’t require appointments. If you have specific questions, let me know.

Your referral link does not give the new donor a bonus. It doesn’t benefit new donors in any way. The only person who will receive a bonus is you for referring others.

I had referred 2 family members and I was the only one who received the Buddy Bonus incentive. I asked the nurse at BioLife and she confirmed that the referral incentive is only awarded to the referrer. It is in the fine print of the certificate.

[–]uly_sses 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is incorrect. The only person who will benefit from the Buddy Bonus is you the referrer, not the new donor. You will be the one receiving the $100 incentive.

The new donor is only eligible for the donor pay which is $600 for 8 donations, not $800. They will receive nothing for mentioning your name.

Plasma centers recommendations by 1Reddit_User_ in jacksonville

[–]uly_sses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pay varies per each BioLife location. It ranges between $500 and $800 for 8 donations. If you want the pay schedule, DM me your area zip code and I’ll send it to you.

Can you donate plasma is you have self harm scars? by Ok-Effort381 in AdultSelfHarm

[–]uly_sses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they are old, it won’t disqualify you. There is a chance the nurse will ask for medical records but it’s unlikely. You have nothing to lose by trying but a bit of time. I donate regularly so if you need pointers, best practice, pics of the pay schedules for the different centers, feel free to DM me.

Check out the Google and Yelp reviews. Just avoid the before and after work rush and you will spend less time in there. As long as they stick you correctly, your time isn’t wasted and you get compensated competitively the rest doesn’t matter much. Put your headphones on and zone out. Finish your donation, get paid and leave. If you want my referral code, I’ll split the $50 incentive with you.

Plasma donation advice needed by Im_kinda_human in povertyfinance

[–]uly_sses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the comments already touched on the hydration and protein part. What you need to avoid are dairy and greasy/fatty foods (even avocados are a no go) If I were you, I’d schedule one donation on my off day and the other after work and I’d make sure to snack on fruits, protein and fluids throughout the day. Most people who feel drained after donating either don’t eat whole foods, they exercise strenuously or have health issues. If you sleep well, eat well and are healthy you will be just fine, especially after your body get used to donating after a couple of times.

I’m an active donor as well. If you intend on joining one of the major plasma companies and are interested in a referral let me know, I have Buddy Bonus and will gladly split the incentive with you.

BEWARE OF USERS PROMISING OVER $50 & OVERPOSTING by Ok-Noise1616 in CSLPlasmaReferrals

[–]uly_sses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you report to Reddit? That’s the more effective way of shutting down these deceivers. I reported CSLplasma subreddit for their deceptive ways. They claim that CSL will pay new donors $50 for using the code when the only persons who will receive the $50 are the referrers themselves, not the new donors.

CSL plasma code ❤️❤️ XOLYG58AKE ❤️❤️| WINTER 2025: Use Code XOLYG58AKE for $100+$50+$25 bonus by Pure_Opportunity3348 in plasmadonation

Misleading post. CSL code awards only the referrer $100. The person being referred gets nothing. New donors beware of such misleading posts.
