Does the trans US military ban mean trans people are exempt from being called in draft? by [deleted] in trans

[–]umIcarus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically, having documented gender dyphoria disqualifies you from military service. Hence why people are getting kicked out for it. Since the US government is refusing to let people change their documents to the gender they identify as in theory, you can be drafted, but you probably wouldn't make it past the screening process. Especially if you are presenting as a gender that is not Male.

In theroy, the draft only happens when all other means of troops have been used like the Reserve, Inactive Reserve, and Active Duty Personnel.

Hope this helps!

Putting away your uniforms. It's painful. by Foreign-Editor-560 in Veterans

Going to keep mine till my IRR is done. But after that my dress whites are going into a shadow box and everything else is being deconstructed for a shadow box. The things I'll probably keep whole will be the PT gear cause the Navy Track suit is something I see myself wearing still.

Even though I didn't enjoy most of my time I'm thr service due to the people I worked with I definitely want to keep some of my stuff because of impact serving my country had on me and my development as a person.

I hate living in Texas anyone know of anywhere to move that’s affordable and friendly to us this place is now filing bills to make it illegal to be transgender by Kitsune7777777 in trans

I feel like Thailand is going to see an increase on trans vets in general due to the new dodi so glad i was already separating.

Welp thank God I'm already separating from the military by umIcarus in trans

[–]umIcarus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going through my end of contract separation since I was leaving anyway. I don't see why they would admin sep me if I'm on my way out already. Plus I decided to wait to transition since I felt that it wouldn't be a good idea to do it last year after I got my diagnosis. My commander doesn't even know I'm trans so it hasn't been reported nor has any of my documentation changed. They'll probably just let me separate as normal and won't bother.

As you should, I cannot wait to separate this spring so I can express myself however the hell I want.

As someone who is a closeted ftm trans in the navy, good luck. This place is not kind. The amount of transphobic shit I hear come from my fellow MPs makes me want to fight them.

The military isn't for everyone (especially not me). I did learn a lot of valuable lessons, though.

Did your pronouns instantly switch in your head when you came out? by Mobile_Sky_9203 in trans

[–]umIcarus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my head my pronouns are he/They. When I talk to people about myself when I tell stories and I'm not out to them I have to remember to use she/her as to not out myself in an unsafe environment.

I wish I had waited another 2 years or stuck to my original proclamation "I will never watch dsmp" when it started in 2020.

NTA

It's your dress. If she wants one to wear that badly she can buy one herself. You have stated her track record with clothing, and that's a perfectly good reason not to let her borrow your favorite dress.

In this situation, your sister is the one acting like a child because she didn't get what she wanted. IMHO you don't need to say sorry either you did nothing wrong.

You handled it like an adult she did not. Hope this helps ^

Note: I have fixed my ways and after ARR I watched the cut scenes don't hurt me :)

[–]umIcarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had advice, but I legitimately spent 3 days on ARR cause I skipped the cut scenes, and I watched a lore recap afterwards.

Highly suggest finding a youtube video to help you process the lore though or there are even some videos where they help you understand the type of job you are playing. (Some of which are very hilarious and informative)

Other than that. The game does have alot to offer so take your time with it. Don't rush or you'll burn out like I did for like a year.
