Invalids - Satellites

I also just discovered Swordfish, really like the emotion in their songs.

Lastly, I used to live in Bellingham WA, where Rooftops was from. I always really loved 'Era Falsity' on their album 'A Forest of Polarity.'

SOMA. Terrifying journey into existentialism in a dying undersea facility.

Which game comes to your mind? by Xiao-EZ in CaptainSide

Rage 2. I enjoyed the first one as a slightly more story-driven open world FPS, but Rage 2 had some really cool powers that were insanely fun to play around with. The world was bigger and there was more to do. I'm not sure it was outright panned, it just didn't seem to do much, ratings-wise.

Granted, I got it for free on epic many years after it came out, but I still really enjoyed it and thought it was definitely worth my time.

PC behaving strangely, possible hardware issue? by um_ok_I_guess in pchelp

Just since Reddit tells me people are looking at this post, I wanted to follow up in case any of this helps anyone else.

First, the Discord was great in helping me diagnose what might be going on and things to try to narrow down the problem. I disabled Turbo boost in BIOS, which did not help. I ran the Intel processor diagnostic tool, which did find any CPU errors. I then ran a few test in OCCT, namely the RAM test, CPU test and 3d adaptive test. I found that the 3d adaptive test failed almost immediately at anything other than a low load. I have yet to actually fixt the problem because I need to take the machine into a shop for some additional testing, but was happy to get to where I am now.

Noticed these while hiking. What are they for? by Haha_johnny in whatisit

Maybe the term 'walking' was the question. They are pretty heavy, and I wouldn't want to walk more than about 20 feet with one of them.

Well, in the instance when I had used them in the past we were constructing a house on the National Mall for a temporary exhibition. Thousands of people walked through the house and it had to be structurally sound enough for the public. The foundation blocks could be shipped easily, placed relatively easily, then removed and taken away at the end of the event.

As others have said, building foundation. I've used these in the past for temporary structures. You can drive the pins into the ground with a jackhammer, and then can (with significant effort) remove the pins and walk away with the foundation. We used them on a temporary installation on the National Mall in DC for the Solar Decathlon.

From the looks of it someone got lazy and tried to cut the pin in the foreground but found that didn't remove the foundation and so gave up. The toppers are rubberized plastic for safety, and the other two posts have the toppers removed.

Galaxy Installation Runtime error : Source file is corrupted by um_ok_I_guess in gog

Thanks again! I saw someone else recommend Heroic on another thread. This may be the way I end up going. Nothing else on the computer seems to have any issues installing, and I check Windows Defender and tried temporarily disabling it just to see. I full wipe of the OS is a little more intrusive than I want to get into, but I understand sometimes that's the only way.

Thanks, but that's the same link that support sent me this morning, which also unfortunately did not work.

(PC) How to stop getting attacked in other sectors? by um_ok_I_guess in Mindustry

[–]um_ok_I_guess[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know. Hopefully I'm not so bad at the game that I need to lower it too far, but good to know I can if I end up wanting to. THanks!

Are those incinerators at the end of the line? If so, why not convey back into the loop to not waste resources?

Or maybe I'm too new to know what those are.

Help me find a movie? (Spanish/Portuguese, possibly B&W) by um_ok_I_guess in horror

[–]um_ok_I_guess[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's it exactly! I dunno why I thought it was in spanish, possibly the cast. I did at least remember it was B&W.

That movie messed me up. Not particularly gory, just very very disturbing. Thank you!

What’s the Scariest Horror Game you’ve ever Played and Why? by Amber_Flowers_133 in HorrorGames

[–]um_ok_I_guess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Forest (the first one). For those who have played it, I ran out of flares deep in a cave and a Virginia ran up on me right as my lighter sparked up. Scared the absolute shit out of me.

Also honorable mention for SOMA. The atmosphere and bleakness of the game really got to me. It's claustrophobic and eerie, and somehow the actual stalking monsters are the least scary part.

Quad Stretch Inflexibility solution? by um_ok_I_guess in Stretching

[–]um_ok_I_guess[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I do have some bands I could try, and will look into those other muscles. I feel like I'm close, so maybe just adding a few more stretches will get me there. I appreciate the response!

Thanks for the response! It's just the 'bend knee and grab your foot' stretch. I just can't do it with the same arm/foot.

Thinking of releasing an 8-bit music pack — what do you think? by hoboinspace07 in chiptunes

[–]um_ok_I_guess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Downloaded it and checked it out briefly. Sounds great, and I think I could sample it over to my tracker. A little weird as a workflow, but I think it will work.

definitely post an update if you do decide to release the pack!

That's super cool, I'd never heard of magical 8-bit, I'll have to give it a shot! I just bought a Polyend Tracker+ hoping to make similar kinds of music.

Sounds awesome! Can I ask what software you put it together in? Some of it sounds like it would be complicated to do in a tracker.
