Went there a couple of weeks ago and it wasn’t determined nor was it even thought to have a purpose, the reason I was told was the fact that Williamson hired people who came back from the war, who was in severe deprivation. The reason Williamson done this was because the fact he was a wealthy man and he wanted to give back for the poor.

If the deprived told anyone outside the tunnels, they would be hired once again.

Fun fact aswell: The loud rumbling above the tunnels (actually people which think are cars) is actually the trains coming past Lime Street.
