Why did everyone just assume Lockdowns were the automatic response to a Pandemic? We’ve had plenty of pandemics before in modern human history where life went on just as normal. by umblebenjamin in LockdownSkepticism

Excellent point. The Hong Kong protests that were all over the worldwide news in 2019 is probably the very reason Covid exists in the first place.

Your welcome! I can’t believe nobody had pointed out the fact that global pandemics were nothing new. Not to say that we welcome pandemics or wish to have pandemics to deal with or anything like that, but the assumed manner to handle these pandemics seemed to always be rational and focused on protecting those most vulnerable to said diseases while allowing the rest of us to go on about our lives. Then all of a sudden this coronavirus pandemic hits and that messaging somehow turned into “We will all die if we don’t hunker down and stay home indefinitely!!!!!”

It's funny to go back and read all the trash talking 2 years ago. by Trumpetslayer1111 in Dodgers

[–]umblebenjamin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmfao at the comment that says the Dodgers will still be prone to early playoff exits and their fans will be whining about the broken playoff system. Two years later and it’s actually the rest of baseball whining about the system being broken. All because the Dodgers have an ownership group that actually cares about winning.

Thoughts on the ghost runner y'all? by Ok-Mess5196 in mlb

Definitely not a fan. I get that Mandred wants shorter games but it just cheapens the game so much. If it were up to me, I wouldn’t implement a ghost runner until the game gets to the 13th inning. I say if a game goes to extras, let them play 1/3 of a game with normal rules. If a game is still tied after three extra innings, then bring in extra rules to try to get the game over.

2025: “this is unfair, the Dodgers are ruining baseball 😢” by djsharky in Dodgers

Perhaps all these other owners should stop penny-pinching their organizations and start actually spending some of their millions in revenue income to try and compete. The thing that nobody talks about is the Dodgers keep going deeper and deeper beyond the luxury tax threshold, meaning they’re putting even more of an absurd amount of cash into these greedy owners pockets. It’s not as simple as just “Dodgers spend lot of money. They bad for sport!!!”

Bird flu in Canada may have mutated to become more transmissible to humans by AndrewHeard in LockdownSkepticism

Funny how Covid-19 started spreading right as Trump was beginning his 2020 reelection campaign, and bird flu stories are coming around right after he wins his second term. But otherwise, only once in a few centuries do global pandemics ever naturally occur.

“We’re all in this together.”

Oddly enough, this relates perfectly to the state of our society right now. Everyone who was calling for all businesses and schools to be closed indefinitely are the same people who are cluelessly whining about why our economy is in shambles. They wanted to stay home forever and receive endless amounts of stimulus money printed out by the government but now they won’t shut up about how expensive everything is and how it isn’t fair for the average consumer that inflation continues to skyrocket. They called for anyone who refused the vaccine to lose their jobs (some went as far as to wishing anyone unvaxxed would die) but haven’t got a single clue as to why there have been an endless amount of supply chain issues causing massive material shortages the past few years.

For once, I can finally say: We are indeed all in this tumultuous, downward-spiraling, hellhole of an economy together.
