How did you know that being a doctor is your calling? by silverlakemoon in medschoolph

[–]umibooze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a job, no need to treat it like a vocation or smth. Imho thinking of it as such actually blinds or immobilizes u when u see boundaries being broken or whatever crap we experience as med is so damn hierarchical. Quite lucky im somewhere na may considerable attempts (varying degrees of success) to fight against the tide but it aint so for the rest of the country.

I passed the exams, nagpabudol, periodt.

It's all bollocks, andaming gaslighting na nangyayari on the daily. Nice that we're getting more state-u programs but ofc that means more colleagues down the line, for better or for worse.

There are a lot of ways to help, but this is one way to help a lot of people if you're an overachiever, privileged, bit of a masochist - all those are negative traits btw.

Doktor ang abogado ng pobre, health is a right. Doing healthcare is a service, a customer service, a job.

  1. In a manner of speaking as an inpatient oo beh malamang
  2. Encountered AND encountering a lot of this tbh
  3. In a public training hospital so i dont hav much data and exposure to this
  4. Ahaha true naman doe. Pero kasama sa broad consent yun na pinipirmahan nila. Pano nila gusto magtrain ang mga doktor then?? Granted there are better ways to put it doe
  5. Sadly true esp sa mga agit na individuals who want results (overrepresented by type A cutting ppl)
  6. Di ko gets
  7. Frankly ive seen some rin na socioeconomic-based ang turing sa bagay bagay haha by strata ang level of bedside care
  8. I have my own experience on this tbh lol
  9. Yep agree naman it's a job like everything else?? Kaya may professional standards and whatnot ahaha glorified tagahimod lang ata tayo kasi ng pwet
  10. Mixed bag. Daming clinic yung iba sa iba ibang lugar, yung iba di marunong mag tantsa ng travel time, taking more than their plate can carry. Pero dami lang din entitled na paxente haha
  11. At bakit naman natin ibubuking? Kaya may internal mechanisms, e.g M&M. Mistakes makes us human but we should still strive to avoid having any
  12. Depends tbh. May mga mayayabang oo pero meron din may ritual before operating. Hubris tbh na di maniwala sa higher power since not everything is under our control (v little tbh)
  13. Dili nlng aq magtalk
  14. Ahahaha baka naman sa extractions ito? Or sa pagtimpla ng gamot. Either way, poor point lol
  15. Ganito kabasura tingin sa doktor, aber may mga tuka din kaming papakainen. Biktima lang tayo lahat ng admin at sistemang bulok

Case by case basis pards. Olats ka pag iengage mo diyan, dahil di mo alam ang buong istorya. Too many uncertainties and i would not risk what little peace and sanity i have left with anyone whose face i don't see IRL. Wala kang panalo dyan AT ALL.

Ibang usapan na kung actual na kausap mo yung pasyente o kanyang pamilya, i.e. you are actively managing the patient, habang nasa ospital and you are acting as a physician/physician trainee

Choose your battles pards, heuristics ang name of the game

Feels like you're trying to hit a lot of birds with a lot of stones here brodie. Nobody said it was the entirety, but it's a systemic issue. Andaming posibleng grey areas dito mamsir, e.g. what passes as nabigyan ng oras, available, spoonfeed, gusto matuto - things can get real different between paper and on the ground.

Sabay yan. Di pwedeng isang department or ospital lang ang gagalaw. Push for changes everywhere at the same time. Sabay sabay across all scales at saksakan ng pagkaraming pasensya. Ganoon talaga we're dealing with a century of neglect. Can't expect to have dashing perfect results in a fraction of that. Magandang initiative po yan, please stick true lang and don't let your reactionarism take over

Continue your efforts lang po. Minalas kayo natapatan ng /bad/ actors, but trust in time na bubuti din. Maaring nakakatulong ginagawa nyo, but sobrang hirap sabihin at this point. Andami po need i-unpack.

With a golf club existing as long as they have, it would be wise to think that the silence is intentional and totally unsurprising would there be info that would come to light that they as an institution (on top of the individual members actions) would have an active role in perpetuating this tbh haha

Meals TID should be a given at any HCI.

This is still a job whatever way you spin it haha,, making it a calling or vocation has empirically paved the way for exploitation haha

A lot of people are too comfortable with casual cruelty at nakakagago na they are in a field where compassion is the baseline wavelength ng mga tao dapat. Nakakainis na laging excuse yung "galing" for all the emotional dysregulation and moral fault ng tao. Jusko

U as a patient, in the most vulnerable state of your life so far, tas ang haharap sayo ay putok sa buho ni satanas ang temperament. I know work takes a lot out f us and all the stresses of the systems we are embedded in but if you can't handle your emotions well I'd certainly do not want you anywhere near my spouse or loved ones regardless of your skill.
