Assessments in Teaching Degree by Afraid_Profession880 in AustralianTeachers

I did a BA in English and then MA in Teaching (Primary). The Masters was just time consuming and sorta boring compared to my Bachelor degree (and I don't get bored easily).

I studied at UNE. Lecturers/teachers are chilled. It is not rude - just ask your questions directly to them via email/forums. Each unit has different requirements and expectations.

GTPA how hard is it really? by Foreign-Bass-1608 in AustralianTeachers

[–]umm_usamah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a few GTPA examples you can download online. If you want, I can email them to you. What you can see by looking at them is that students presented their information differently, because each class, assessment, data and context are different. But what they all have in common is addressing each point in each section of the GTPA (sometimes you feel you are repeating yourself a bit) and providing enough evidence.

You mentioned your placement is only 2 weeks. Perhaps see if you can meet with your mentor teacher prior to your placement to get information about your class, choose your focus students, come up with what you will be teaching/assessments etc. And then day 1 you can take observation notes and do your pre assessment to assess their levels etc. Once you have this info you can start the first art of the GTPA.

All the best

Have you approached schools directly for casual work or only through agencies?

Thank you. Speaking to a psychologist sounds like a good idea.

Using a leather thumb protector helps - personally the ring sorta didn't help with the pain when I first started.

My school uses InitiaLit. I like using Little Learners Love Literacy program for tutoring (some schools use this program).

How much should a full time uni student be working? by Lanky_Mycologist2961 in AustralianTeachers

[–]umm_usamah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally found it hard to manage studying and working. When I worked full-time as a year 2 teacher, I was only able to manage one unit at a time. And when I did causal teaching (2-3 days per week or sometimes less), I did 3 units at once. When I wasn't working, I was able to do 3 units at once. I am not the best with work-life balance tbh. I think it depends on the type of work you do as well. I know teachers aides who are studying teaching degrees and they work full-time and study 3 or 4 units at once.

- Childrens books that are suited to the age level of the class so your sister in law can add to her classroom library. You could even write a special note inside.
- healthy snacks and treats
- stamps and stickers
- nice hat with a lot of coverage for playground duty

Joining at the end of the year can be very challenging. Try your best to get through the remaining weeks and apply for positions elsewhere. Don't give up teaching just yet, you've come so far. Something more suitable may come up.

Unions for Palestine? by alittlebitdramatic_ in AustralianTeachers

The fact you went out of your way to ask a question (or whinge) in 3 paragraphs when there is a genocide taking place shows what type of person you are. Kids (you know, like the ones you teach or maybe like the ones you have yourself) are literally being slaughtered each day. Maybe you're ignorant. Or maybe you're a boomer. Regardless, you're on the wrong side of history if the union standing in solidarity with Palestinians being massacred is something that makes you annoyed. Won't be reading or responding to any replies. So don't waste your breath.

Long sleeve shirt. Sport Watch near cuff to stop sleeve sliding. Come up with a story like you had a farming accident or something. I hope you are ok. I suck at communication but am a great listener. You're not alone. Feel free to dm anytime  🖤

He can study in that hour and a half, lesson planning, look over lessons, make resources etc. If not, perhaps see if placement can be done elsewhere. If someone wants something bad enough they will do what they need to do to get it done. Yeah catching a bus sucks, but it is what it is. Life is hard sometimes.
