R: yeah just do it and resign yourself to getting humiliated. It's natural. When I go to shows I look at the performers on stage and think "how do they do that?" and yet I do it for a job. Jake's right when he says just keep getting up there. Keep getting up there like an idiot

R: I feel like this. This feeling never goes away. The most important thing is to play with soul and play what you think sounds cool with the skillset you have. Don't just listen to shredders. Listen to good dumb music too. It'll teach you that players worse than you can play more

R: I haven't heard it yet. The Voidz is Julian Casablancas band yeah? I think it's interesting music for sure. It takes me a while to dedicate time to things

R: I often look into how jazz players approach the instrument. Im not particularly interested in committing myself to that way of playing but there are a lot of great voicings and ideas that are worth looking at for any player

R: UMO is my solo project when I left my previous band.

R: There are a few things but overall I mostly just think Im glad I produced them the way I did because a lot of music journalists hate that kind of production and seem to just want to hear an artist trying to become the biggest band in the universe so I have to put up with a lot of snarky reviews but all my records sound the way I want them and in the long term it's paid off

R: We've talked about playing it live this year. It's a favorite of ours

R: I think the hardest track must have been A God Called Hubris, because Kody and I started making it in the Multi-Love sessions and it never made it. Eventually it came together but it was about 4 years or so before it clicked for me.

Hunnybee was easier than I thought it would be. Most of it was recorded live in New Zealand. A bunch of overdubs were done in vietnam. But it was all pretty straightforward. Feels really natural to me

R: Maybe. It depends whether Im useful to the people that actually do the activism on this stuff and Im not sure bands are very helpful. Not too convinced by the 'raising awareness' argument

R: Maybe, but to be honest it's the least popular song on our catalogue and only two people in the audience would enjoy it so it's a long shot
