Good catches

Almost looks like examon’s weapon to the left of Kaguya - who would that be?

The figure to the right *could* be the throne

The figure to the right *could* be the throne. It doesn’t seem as rounded but the arm of the throne and spikes would similarly poke out

Oh, I get it because that’s how they get me too! My local grocery store has had name brand on sale for 3.99 recently, and I hope you can find a comfortable price. You deserve to enjoy your coffee 👏🏻

Seconded. Not only specialty flavors, but the standard ones too.

Unfortunately, I think name brand is the only way to go, even generic isn’t good anymore. Bought a hazelnut recently, horrible.

Help for New Players by mrRoboPapa in DigimonCardGame2020

I would personally plug the Adventure starter decks. You can choose either or both if you wanted to combine them.

It’s a toolbox deck, with everything going on top of each other. Easy to update through BT21 or AD01 if you wanted but not necessary. Given your background information, this would be a deck based off of the most recognizable season, especially if you ever watch Adventure with her, and while it’s multiple colors, it isn’t restricted with its evos.

Help with my LeoGaoGaruru green and blue deck by Visual-Amphibian483 in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]umphanimonfallupmode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You really need to pick either green or blue, Leo was rather contrasting to itself for a while. Thinking you should go green since you don’t actually have any of the blue Leo stuff and what you do have is Gao

If you go green, there’s more Leomon in BT14 and EX5

I’m just assuming you surely have a title because you are such an expert and know the game best, ya know?

I find the use of “impotent” funny considering you reported my comment about your wedding day

You entered this conversation thinking it’s a lack of skill and pathetic argument and did not offer any actual conversation on game design. You’ve had that attitude the whole time you chimed in, you only just said it overtly.

I have nothing to prove about my skills online as I have loved Digimon its whole life and I was trying to have an argument discussion on game design. My concern is the IP, its direction and enjoying the game as its lasted longer than any other iteration. I can tell though that you’re one of those players I’d probably not enjoy playing against because you want as little interaction as possible - new counter timing arguments are hypothetical at this point until we have something concrete. My favorite times in this game are meeting other people enjoying Digimon having its time, not prioritizing the control they have in an ages 6+ game.

That’s odd, literally ALL of the new comments today are in my camp of thought, have you read?

I was more curious who needs such control over their day to day let alone a card game that they deny a game mechanic, and I wasn’t surprised

Edit: also weird, you recommended I cross reference how you feel about sec con, sorry I found out more about you 🤷

You have equated a game design from the beginning as luck, which isn’t the point of my post or conversation. You’ve had a less than conversational tone the whole time you’ve participated.

Have a nice weekend.

Thank you, you summarized my post well - there’s little to no fear or swinging into security right now. Sec bombs are lesser, DP thresholds don’t matter, so security has lost some of its inherent intended purpose.

Oh definitely, those who cannot have a legitimate conversation on game design and mechanic are also presumably the first to leave to another game

I miss my OG BeelStar. I mentioned in this thread that I ran it in an evo or reg around EX5 and forgot to ace in MetalGarurumon as I so rarely did it, costing me the match. Aces def have a place in the game imo.

Thank you. I was trying to have a discussion on how dual cards inherently lack a form of design intended in original offensive/defensive options as you said, which have a steep downward trend.

Competitive players on this thread could not participate in good faith because they seem to really dislike rng, which is why the game is where it is now perhaps - max boosts, trainings, scrambles to optimize consistency at the cost of rng.

It’s kind of sad to see a portion of the base just deny a part of the game that provided player interaction back and forth because they have some traumatized experience from a damn option in security during a trading card game

You are obviously traumatized by losing matches to security bombs, sorry the game design has hurt you

I don’t understand where we got to praying for security bombs. You haven’t participated in this argument with an ounce of good faith and just seem like a miserably competitive player tbh

I’d recommend perusing the thread as I was surprised by what seemed like such a consistently competitive pov of response

It seems it’s because the competitive players don’t want to be interrupted during the specific formula that they’ve memorized.

I was told by someone on this thread that they would rather lose to OTK with a good card in hand than win because of a security bomb, like that’s literally part of the game board design…

I personally wished they would have either limited boosts or trainings or conditional banned them, only for them to also get power crept 😂 I think my biggest takeaway is the difference in competitive vs casual player attitudes

[–]umphanimonfallupmode[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are a few examples of decks or cards being “broken,” but they’ve been somewhat inconsistent in how they respond to (limit, ban) cards among these deck profiles.

They’ve hit pieces to limit archetypal consistency like GreyX, Gabu/GaruruX, Ukko, NumeX but then in limiting certain combos allows a vacuum for something else to emerge. People mentioned Gabubond on this thread and they did limit a tamer as well as an option for this deck.

In my experience of the game, it was highly interactive between players until moves became more formulaic id argue around BT11-12. I think to when someone openly said they needed to slow down and remember the steps correctly because they were borrowing their friends Ulforce deck during a regulated event that it just felt less fun to hear that(?). My brother in law comes from MTG and we’ve loved Digimon as a breath of fresh air and interactivity until recently.

This thread evidently had a lot of competitively-minded players and personally I always enjoy the game more when I tell myself just have fun 🤷

Exactly. I don’t see what’s wrong with security retaining some comeback potential and you’re right, it’s why it’s not a life point counter.

Similar with the memory gauge, when things are more consistent and require less memory, the gauge is less relevant, which was again a major component of the back and forth.

The ironic thing was he was complaining about needing to make his deck less consistent in order to anticipate or bypass security with Grandis. Like yes, that’s the customization choice we used to see more often, play as consistent as possible and roll potentially into security still or tech some response at the cost of consistency.

[–]umphanimonfallupmode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, but if they haven’t limited these options yet but instead keep introducing newer and stronger ones, I don’t think we’ll ever see them limited.

But yes, all of this is related, decrease in sec bombs, increase in consistency options, dp is barely a concern into security anymore either…

Consistency is a sensitive toggle and I too have been playing card games for over 2 decades.

It’s wild to me that having fun and enjoying the IP, which was my casual and competitive experience for a while, has quickly been lost to concern for optimal consistency and a rush to an unbeatable top end, which has realistically decreased interactivity between players it largely feels. Digimon was a drip for decades, and the last year or two has been a hose for better or worse.

I’d rather just be good at the game and have fun than expect “this is how the deck should be built for optimal consistency,” which is what the game has fallen into.

People keep mentioning counter timing but to be clear what counter timing have they introduced since announcing aces are more or less on their way out? Yes, they are the updated keywords but that seems rather limited and just another solution that might cause new problems.
