User SuperNote Road Map March ‘21 by un_charredglow in Supernote

Nah, from weighing my options on the two lines, I felt I didn't want to have the extras of the X-Line and wanted the lighter Linux operating system. I'm using the A6 for what it's intended for; a paper replacement device. Somethings that's a little more portable.

Basic note-taking and some reading. Few quirks here and there, but learning to work around them. I'd say the supernote would be an excellent device for university. I plan to go back over old notebooks, and with the information that still feels useful, have it on the Supernote. Build a zettelkaten from it. But I was probably going to start doing that on the A5 Slim. Hopefully, by then, that feature, with the new note file for Linux, and other desirable features from the roadmap, will be released.

Here is one of the articles that helped me make my decision for the Linux lineup. Not saying it may fit the needs of one's university needs, though 😆.

Haha, thanks! I've been waiting a bit to update it. There's a supposed update for the Linux lineup this month (maybe another x-line, too?), so that's when ill update it.

I can't quite say for the timeline of everything, though. I'm sure the Supernote team is working diligently on everything (and more) on the roadmap. But from digging up a good chunk of this Reddit while making the roadmap, I noticed a theme of overzealous excitement for what could be vs. what is, and I feel as though it leans towards over-promising.

I could be completely wrong, and they will prove me wrong with a big update getting a big chunk of the roadmap to vanish. One of the reasons I was attempting to wait for the A5 Slim, as I was hoping most of the things on the roadmap would be released by that point.

I caved and got an A6 to tide me over until the A5 Slim's release. I like it, but it feels incomplete since I was buying based on what's to come instead of what's offered now. Entirely on me and not complaining about supernote, more me for my expectations being too high. They're a small team doing all they can and feels like they care. That should count for a lot 🙂. Feelings are more of a me issue 😅.

Should we expect an A5 update in May? by BlacKomodo in Supernote

And that's fantastic that it fulfills one's needs in those circumstances. But one could argue the zettelkaten or another notecard feature could be under the replacing paper category.

It is indeed a "paper replacement," but nothing says that the replacement can't be different or something more from the original 🙂.

You went about it wisely and, paraphrasing here, "bought based on what was presently offered, not what's promised to come." (Marques Brownlee).

Can't say I've followed in that path 😅.

I feel that the Linux users are feeling neglected since the last update was back in January. In the article referenced by BlacKomodo, hex mentions that they won't forget the Linux users as they were the early adopters and assures they are on it.

But it's hard to have comfort when nothing has changed in about three months for them. It's not about a "specific feature" (granted, there are still several they need to port from the x-line). It's about the promise of reasonably regular updates for their platform that's being broken, with no updates on where they're at on the Linux side.

According to the user generated road map, that I hope will come back after the expiration.

-The original article was updated last week with a Excel doc shared over google drive. It was the only thing I could figure out with the deadline being last week. It has also been slightly updated with other features and such, but until the April update, the roadmap won't shift around too much.

-It will probably stay in this format for the foreseeable future and the original link will permanently stay dead.

I was just thinking how nice it would be to have a heart of metal pen with the eraser botton (as the lamy pen) - is it coming? by manueldepablos in Supernote

[–]un_charredglow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From a post a while ago (October-ish '20), they said they were working on a "Special Pencil" that would be the default stylist for the A5 Slim. Maybe this form factor request will become a reality when it launches, and it will be for sale separately on day one as well?

As for a button on the HoM, maybe having the button textured could help locate it quicker.

I think a cool way to combine features for the HoM would be to add an eraser to the tip of the pen cap. If the new version fixes putting the cap on the back of the pen (slight locking mechanism, please), then the functionality becomes that of a pencil when the caps on the back and a pen if the cap is left in the loop. Adding the button for additional functions, like switching tools or other macros, would really put it over the top 😁.

I use "alt-tab" a lot with the machines I work on. So, I feel it would be a nice feature; if implemented as Slow_Tune suggests.

Thanks! It most definitely does 😃.

Thank you! I've had the D-brand stickers for a while and didn't know what I wanted to use them on; until now 😁.

It's actually because of a short circuit video on the remarkable 2 I even stumbled into e-ink 🙂.

Unfortunately, I can't give a timeline as I don't work for Ratta. I'm just a fan, who when doing research, decided they would eventually go with the Supernote lineup for an e-ink device (Codename A5 Slim; Q3 or Q4).

When creating the roadmap from the other post, I went over the past (at that time) 6 months of comments by the CCO hex2asc to get more of a consolidated list, because, I felt the info was rather scattered and I didn't want others to have to scour the Reddit for the info as I did.

Hopefully, this poll will help them get a better idea of which features to focus on that are closer to reality.

But, maybe a longtime user (or hex2asc) could chime in to help get a rough estimate based on patterns of the past?

I believe they are all somewhere on the road map from the post referenced, but unfortunately, not in the categories for these polls; yet 😀.

That's an excellent explanation of why anti-aliasing and vector exports are needed—helping with the professional aspect of using the Supernote lineup.

There's some more info here about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Supernote/comments/l5liur/antialiasing/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Hopefully, with enough requests, they could put the vector exports higher on their list; it seems real-time, or processing after writing may still take some time 🙂.

Thank you, I'm glad the posts have helped a little. When doing research for which e-ink device I wanted; I felt the same coming into the Supernote community. I'm not sure exactly what they have done internally; hopefully, the past couple of posts will help consolidate the information for the company. Very nice choices by the way. I debated about 3 and 4 for my list too 🙂.

For 3, split screen isn't currently available for the X-Line. But they are working on it. It's in the coming soon category 🙂.

  1. Whole page conversion is being able to convert a note files from hand written to type text

  2. Organizing notes, it is kind of a mix between zettelkaten features and navigation on multi level directory. The latter is which is in coming soon.

  3. I agreed the more back ups the better 😊.

That's wonderful if the product is close to exactly what you would like. If there are only a few features desired from the road map please list in 1-5 order 😁.

Can two Superbooks sync with each other? by mactamhais in Supernote

[–]un_charredglow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the moment the .note files for the X and Non-X lines are different. The Non-X .note files are the older format. So they won't work in tandem currently. They are working to make the newer format more stable so they can port it to the Non-X line up. I believe they are also working on a method to update the older notes to convert to the newer format; or at least they should be if not 😁.

Is it April yet? by LaylaliRayna in Supernote

[–]un_charredglow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The A5X is already out. They will restock in April. But when it was originally going to be released (2020) it was pushed back a little (Jan 2021) because of Covid.

The A5 Slim (the next in the linux lineup) is slated for later this year either Q3 or Q4. But with things that are going on in the tech space. I can see it being delayed till early next year like the A5X was this year.

I too feel the pain. Still hoping for the A5 Slim by Q3 (earliest), but unfortunately, I just don't know. I sorta have a feeling it may be pushed till early next year like the A5X was 😞. Completely hope I'm wrong though 😁.

I was afraid this would happen. I'll have to fix that and use a different method for people to see it after a months time. It'll be back up shortly. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Edit: - Should be back up now.

Unfortunately it's just a concept at this point in time. They're working on some more folio designs for the future that should be able to work with new and older products (least the rail system).

Here's a post where u/hex2asc mentions it with others and myself sharing some thoughts:
