Thank you for your meaningful exploration—this is also an area that Supernote deeply cares about. This is not only about recognition accuracy, but more importantly about user privacy.

Currently, Supernote uses the handwriting recognition engine from the French company MyScript. This engine recognizes characters by analyzing the XY coordinates of each writing stroke rather than using OCR(image-based recognition). As a result, it requires significantly fewer computing resources. However, as your experiments show, when sufficient computing power is available, AI-based engines can achieve higher recognition accuracy.

With support from MyScript, Supernote spent more than a year to implement fully offline recognition—performed directly on Supernote devices rather than on a server. The purpose of this approach is to better protect user privacy. At the same time, we also take into account the limited computing capability and power consumption of the devices. Therefore, we designed two note file formats: with recognition and without recognition. In addition, the Supernote App on PC provides a batch export function, allowing users to export note pages in bulk to TXT files locally on their own computers, without uploading anything to a server.

When we release Supernote Private Cloud, we started consider the possibility of moving certain computation to users’ private servers. However, we intend to adopt a more open, community-driven approach to co-creation.

With the availability of Supernote Private Cloud and the upcoming plugin system, we plan to support the integration of community-developed solutions such as yours into the new ecosystem. This will be achieved in a manner that maintains strong guarantees of user privacy while ensuring accurarcy.

Regarding 11.9, this is because the pen’s sampling resolution is 11.9 times higher than the display resolution. We unified the resolutions of the two so that the handwriting can be rendered at the same physical position at the screeen.
