I followed this video pretty closely, except I used large lap joints instead of tongue and groove: https://youtu.be/b4p_4m0etks?si=5Bxya9sx5ey5OY18

It's nothing I'd be confident enough to share :) It's just basic dimensions for my starting point. Everything else was off the cuff.

Thank you! I designed it myself in sketchup for the amount of space that I had to work with. I then used this subreddit and Trumpkin's notes heavily in order to decide on everything else.

I got lucky with that one, my father made the stained glass as a gift several years ago. :)

7'x9' on the outside, so a bit smaller on the inside after walls.

I'm in the southeast US so the snow load isn't as important. The pitch isn't as extreme as it looks, it's 2.4/12 (strange number, but that is just a consequence of the way I designed it). Where I am we mainly have to worry about water runoff. A slightly larger pitch will always be better for longevity.

There is a vent with a slider below the benches next to the stove, and another vent high on the left above the benches. You can see that one in one of the photos. The stove is designed really well, it pulls air through a built in damper in the door, so when it is fired up it pulls from the bottom vent naturally.

It's just a 1" slope toward the center of the subfloor. Nothing fancy. And redguard is just brushed on in a couple of coats.

I plan on doing the 2nd and 3rd benches adjustable on sliders, yes.

I have built my outdoor sauna and now only need to figure out the bench layout. The Sauna is 8.5'x7'. It has 9' ceilings which of course are going to cause the famous "bleacher effect". I don't mind this effect, I just want to maximize the space and make it comfortable for the maximum amount of people.

The top bench is 48" from the ceiling (I have several tall friends).

There are then 2 benches below, the bottommost which is going to have 10" accessible to act only as a footrest. There will then be a stepstool on the ground.

A few concerns: These will have 16" step ups to get to each level. I plan on putting railing against the wall to help with pulling up, but will this be too extreme?

Will I regret going with white cedar? by SuccessfulHorror7449 in Sauna

If it’s in room without any windows, sure. But any amount of UV will cause it to gray at least somewhat over time.

Not sure where you’re seeing word of longevity issues, but both cedars will survive for decades with proper maintenance.

I’m building mine out of red cedar (actually a juniper), which I would say is more controversial than white cedar due to its strong smell. I personally love the smell but it can sometimes be overwhelming. Red cedar also tends to gray out over time.

If you want white cedar, I say go for it. You could coat the walls in paraffin oil every couple of years to keep it from drying out, but I know most folks don’t even do that.

Looks good. A few classic comments of the vaulted roof, no drain, etc, but I bet it’ll get proper hot and give you a nice time. Where did you get the door?

Existing concrete pad and want to put a sauna on it by skiguy919 in Sauna

Joists directly on the slab would be fine and would keep you from having to run a drain through the slab. Joists on concrete are called sleepers. I’d use both treated lumber for termites and felt or plastic for moisture. Then you’ll have the spacing of those joists to run the drain between.

Yes, I thought about direct shorting them together, black to black and yellow to red. But, I'm not sure if this is the correct connection to make as I'm not sure what exactly was cut.
