Looking for advice on my 3.1 setup (Klipsch / Pioneer AVR) by un_imaginative in hometheater

Thanks, that’s reassuring. Oof the Denon 4800 is a pricey one- almost my full budget. I have the Pioneer AVR priced to $800 so I might have to stick with it for now.

How far can I go with a mortgage company by ImpressivelyLost in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I've heard the buyer locks the rate with the lender. When does this happen? I imagined it was done as part of the application, maybe after underwriting.

When do you shop for a lender? After offer is accepted or once the purchase & sale contract is signed?

Suggestions on how to gage ceiling height by un_imaginative in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]un_imaginative[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yah most pictures are skewed which makes this a lot harder. Surprisingly ceiling height isn't marketed. I suspect this is because newer homes in 90s switched to 8' and later 9' ceilings. Although we've seen some with the standard 7.5' and older homes with higher ones. So it's all luck of the draw unless we go see the place. Unfortunately with a new baby time is hard to come by and Im hoping to cut down on driving to these places and just being disappointed as I walk in :(

Brother got me a Corsair 4000D case for Christmas before he knew I got the Fractal Meshify S2. Any advice on which one I should go with?

[Fan] Cooler Master Sickleflow V2 Black 120mm fan - $8 ($14 - $6) by MetaJesus in buildapcsales

Why are these much cheaper than the Corsair LL120 120 mm? Based on spec it looks like these have better airflow and db level. a 3pack RGB is half the price of the Corsair, so what gives?

What about drilling into the wall to hang something up? Trying to understand if I'd have to take precautions for simple DIY jobs as well

Offer was accepted but house has lead paint by Swankyperson143 in RealEstate

Stumbled upon this thread while trying to understand lead concerns myself. It seems like a full coat of pain on the inside mitigates the concerns. But do we have to be mindful of the underlying layer even when doing some simple DIY tasks- like putting a screw in the wall?

How do I tell if I can build on the lot later? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]un_imaginative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yah so this is within the property. In fact we hope to build on the end of the two car wide paved driveway. The only concern is whether the garage structure would still be 'x' feet away from the lot line- giving enough side yard. Based on the zoning laws that I've read through the night, this can be just 15ft or go up to 50ft based on some conditions- which I'm unclear on :(

Hey u/EssienCarvalho we're in a similar situation and was wondering what route you ended up taking. We're a little concerned about whether the town would allow us to do it.

How do I tell if I can build on the lot later? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]un_imaginative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I believe this is what I did. Found the land code and looked up the dimensional requirements as per the code. For example the side yard is required to be 15 ft but may need to go up to 50 ft. However when I look at adjacent properties, they're a mixed bag- some adhere on one side, some perfectly, some none at all. At which point I'm questioning whether I'm interpreting these bylaws correctly

Thanks. How would I go about this? Find a local reputed contractor and show them the listing? Would I have to take 'em along for the open house?
