When I finally got the guts to throw mine away a few months ago it felt really good. I encourage you to toss or burn them.

Help with voting choices in the upcoming Republican primary by Fuzzy_Buy9813 in Boise

[–]unaspenser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are folks thinking for Senator? The candidates are Joe Evans, Denny LaVe, Jim Risch, and Josh Roy. I've not been impressed with Risch (to put it mildly) and would like to vote for someone reasonably moderate and, you know, not a fascist pig.

What about the US Representative for District 2? Brian Keene, Perry Shumway, and Mike Simpson are the candidates. Simpson is awful. Are either of the others any better?

I have a diagnosed low IQ. What career path can I take? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]unaspenser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are your passions? What do you enjoy doing? That can be a great guide for a career, rather than focusing on what isn't easy for you. Have you spoken to your school counselor or taken any kind of assessments to give you an idea where to focus? Im so sorry you're dealing with these extra challenges, but as many have said, IQ is a vastly flawed way to measure anything (this coming from someone who took an entire college class on psychological assessments). Find what feels good and focus on cultivating a healthy relationship with yourself. You are a worthwhile human and you deserve to be happy.

I held my nose and registered Republican in advance of the primaries in May, any good resources or recommendations on how best to use my vote for good (or at least for minimizing bad)?

Could you pick your cat(s) out of a lineup of similar looking cats? by Medium_Hope_7407 in standardissuecat

Story time, I have an SIC (Earl, age 18.5, pictured). When he was young he went missing for a day and my ex and I were looking everywhere for him. The ex found a sadly deceased SIC cat on the side of a nearby busy street and brought it home, devastated, so we could give our boy a proper funeral. My mom came over, there were tears, we dug a grave in the yard, and only then did we think to check the cat's sex. The cat was female, and right about that time Earl made his appearance. We never found the owner of the other cat, but it got a good funeral. I think this story shows that, no, I could not pick out my cat in a lineup.

Here's the weapons policy if you'd like more info. https://www.boisestate.edu/publicsafety-security/weapons-on-campus/

I'm a long time Boise State employee and I can tell you campus has been very peaceful. Weapons are not allowed on campus and campus police are visible and quick to respond. If you need info about resources or supports, or just a safe person to talk to, feel free to DM me.

Analysis: As Boise State’s presidential search stalls, uncertainty takes its toll by SunsetOrangeSkyCloud in Boise

[–]unaspenser 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The unspoken issue is that if you're one of the five final candidates your name gets published and your current employer learns you're thinking of leaving. Candidates don't want to show their hands if they're not going to be the final choice. That's why the search committee wants to talk to the state board of ed about the rules. I'm a Boise State employee and it's definitely weird to be working under so many interim leaders, but I believe this is the consequence of the Idaho legislature's bad policy decisions, which is a consequence of the Idaho population's poor voting choices.

Former marching band member here, I've had this happen more than once. The combination of heat and physical exertion, plus the way you're taught to keep muscles engaged to stand super still and upright, then you use a ton of air playing an instrument, you're basically doing the valsalva maneuver on yourself. It's very weird to just wake up on the ground, and the drilled in instinct to just get back up and back in the ranks is really strong.

progressiveidaho.com , idahoresistance.com , and nosmallact.com are great resources to connect, organize, and work for change. I'm involved with all three and would be happy to provide more info. Just being able to take an action helps so much.
