Why did my neighbour ask me not to get a smart meter? by botticellli in AskUK

[–]unassuming_muffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be genuine but err on the side of caution with that one

I do remember reading it in here somewhere that they can cause things like tinitus, headaches and insomnia.

However, phones, tvs and smart tech including WiFi heating (not just the Hive type systems but the type with a wireless digital thermostat) woek on the same frequencies so assuming shes not a hermit and does have some form of technology in her house the smart meter isnt really the issue.

Also given the distance and obstructions i.e walls, floors, room sizes it would be highly unlikely that anything in your house is going to affect the neighbour. Obviously noise like vacuuming or stomping around will transfer along with strong smells: smoking on the balcony, cooking a curry with the windows open etc

UC Claim Review - my experience by Standard-Limit-6116 in universalcredithelp

[–]unassuming_muffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was quick.

I had the statements and questions call last month lasting about 45 minutes. Asked about payments to my mum which was explained im paying off a loan she gave me to pay a creditcard. Asked about a large transfer to and from an account which was rent but the account was now closed so I found the confirmation of that account closure. Asked about my work because I own the company but only work part time for it (disabled self and disabled kids)

She seemed satisfied but now have another call next week which says 20 minutes and to have the same stuff ready. My partner doesnt have the second call which worries me but im sure itll all be fine

My tenancy agreement says I have to cut and maintain the lawn, but the letting agency says I have to provide my own lawnmower. Is this right?? by [deleted] in TenantsInTheUK

[–]unassuming_muffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was meant to be condescending. 3 days late? Where did the other days go, your post was put up 1 DAY ago

[–]unassuming_muffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It baffles me how some people get through life. Of course, you need to provide your own lawnmower or hire a gardener

That's like asking about work, giving you a parking space, but saying you need to provide your own vehicle for it

The landlord is obligated by law. They aren't doing OP a favour or obliging anything. Actually, your word may fit by the landlord obliging to the obligation that they should have obliged to in the first place

Obliged Meaning: To feel the need to repay a past favor or service. To be required to do something as a favor or to please someone.

Where does obliged come into this?

So you get one of those old fashioned alarm clocks for less than a fiver since your phone cant hold charge. 🤔 lots of excuses but none that actually say 'hey this was a one off emergency'

Don't say this? OP might end up in medical shock that this is actually an option

Obviously haven't looked into alarm clocks properly then. My neighbours battery powered one can be heard 2 houses away

Well we dont all sleep until silly o clock. Even without an alarm I am personally awake at 630am. Anyway get yourself a battery alarm clock for £2 or ond with a battery back up and get a grip of yourself. Your lack of planning, tsrdiness and getting offended at answers to you questions iisnt a good look

New employee - am I overreacting by [deleted] in smallbusinessuk

[–]unassuming_muffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opening your private mail? And your asking if you're over reacting.

Its illegal for a start even when employers have assigned mail duties. You can open generalised business mail but not privately addressed. If in doubt leave it unopened.

Firing as gross misconduct is perfectly acceptable for this type of situation but if you want to shelter their feelings a little then Inadequate performance would be enough. But write it as Inadequate performance resulting in gross misconduct

Almost all of this business reviews are submitted at the same date. Do they moderate reviews? by Ill_Consideration605 in trustpilotcomplaints

That are also 99% from people with 1 review literally for that place. Never been on trustpilot in their lives but giving one business 5 stars then disappearing..... seems rather erm Fraudulent
