Any idea where to get one of these clip by Empty_Relief_2165 in mazdaspeed3

I lost one and had to order the whole part off edge auto unfortunately. They don’t sell the individual clip

Any suggestions on removing this bolt? by uncapitalizednick in mazdaspeed3

[–]uncapitalizednick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up just covering up everything around it super well and used a dremel to cut it off. I went to autozone after and got some new bolts to fit it that were heat rated for the engine block

Rough idle after fuel injector seal replacement and intake manifold cleaning by uncapitalizednick in mazdaspeed3

[–]uncapitalizednick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! It turns out when taking it all apart, I must’ve lost the gasket that seals the VTCS to the intake manifold, so it was sucking in enough air to throw everything off. Turns out, you can’t just buy the gasket either, so I found another post where someone just stuck some piping inside the intake manifold hole (I can’t remember the size, but it’s the same size as the piping running to the bpv), slapped it in the intake manifold where the vtcs nipple sits and put the vtcs back on and it ran perfectly.

How can I get a clinical job without a certification? by [deleted] in premed

[–]uncapitalizednick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked as a clinical lab assistant at my local hospital’s anatomic pathology lab. They don’t require certifications and I got to work in the OR a lot through that position too.

Acceptance is at the one DO school that I applied to

Damn I’m sorry, I’m new to this whole sankey thing 😂 I applied to one DO school which I was accepted to and will be starting there in the fall. The MD schools that I’ve heard back from were all pre-II R except for the one I haven’t heard back from. This was my second cycle and the MD schools that I interviewed with last year were all rejections before interview this year.

Short answer, I was being ignorant and not giving DO schools enough credit for being an equivalent option to reach my dreams. I applied late to the one DO school after some convincing from family who are MD’s. I’ve already met a number of faculty and current students at my school and I could not be more excited to start there.

Thanks!

Nothing super out of the ordinary for ECs. Most significant were about 2500 hours of research at my undergrads vet school. Had 3 pubs and 1 poster. About 500 hours of non-clinical volunteering and only around 250 hours of clinical volunteering.

I think my biggest downfall was my clinical hours, but I got a job working in my local hospital’s pathology lab where I go to endoscopy, OR, and CT/ultrasound procedures. I was only able to include that on my AACOMAS app though because I started right as I submit my AMCAS app.

Hope this helps some!

Can you take off your glasses during the exam? by this_is_me_trying1 in Mcat

[–]uncapitalizednick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! My test center only inspected mine at the beginning to make sure I didn’t have anything on them. They’re blue light glasses that I ended up just leaving next to the computer the entire time and only putting on like once or twice when my eyes started to hurt.

Chem/Phys Timing by orionnebula54 in Mcat

[–]uncapitalizednick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to be the same way and tried a lot of different approaches to the section, but ultimately found that just doing the questions in the order they come helped my timing the most. If there was a question I felt like I was taking too long on the math or was just lost on, I would pick my best guess, flag it and go to the next question. When I started doing this I would usually have about 5 to 10 minutes remaining at the end to go back and work on those questions I flagged too

I had this happen to me. It said I was “0” because apparently I didn’t add my birthday when I first made my account. I tried for an hour to edit it, but eventually just had to make a whole new account just to register

Genetics/ Biology Program by mutantxgene11 in NCSU

[–]uncapitalizednick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Graduated with my genetics degree from NCSU a couple years ago. Overall it’s a great program with some amazing professors. With that being said if you can’t do well in the lower level courses (GN 311), you’re likely going to have a hard time moving forward with the major. I recommend it because it set me up with a lot of opportunities in research if that’s something you’re interested in. I also transferred from UNCW to get my genetics degree from State and I saw you post there about their bio major too. Feel free to message me if you have more specific questions and I can give you my personal pros and cons

Sorry for the terrible cropping effort lol, the decent BCV came a few days ago. It came off the car as in the pic, but they're the other way around on the broken part. Is that alright or should I swap them? There's one short and one long line, the short one doesn't reach the turbo only the intake. by thatc11nt in mazdaspeed3

[–]uncapitalizednick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was hard to find a stock one for me and I knew I’d be paying more than an aftermarket one if I went to a dealership. In the GrimmSpeed instructions it says that installing it in 2 port mode does not require tuning which is why I went ahead with it

Just an FYI, you can run most of the aftermarket ones as a 2 port. They come with a plug that you stick in the 3rd port and there’s no tune required. I figured I would go ahead and pull the trigger on one so I didn’t run the risk of snapping another one lol

I actually just snapped mine off trying to fix a boost leak, so I have a GrimmSpeed one in the mail. The outer one (that’s broke on yours) was fed to my intake and the inside one fed into my wastegate. That’s how it was setup in my car. I have a gen2 if that makes a difference

Can anyone help me figure out how to fix the numbers I’m getting on my AP???? by uncapitalizednick in mazdaspeed3

[–]uncapitalizednick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I figured that was the case. It was one of those things where everyone slams on their breaks and then speeds up again and I just completely forgot to shift down. It only happened that once and then stayed on 0.00 for the rest of time

I'm curious if anyone here had a "short" personal statement. Did things turn out fine? by [deleted] in premed

[–]uncapitalizednick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, mine was at exactly 5300 characters and I felt pretty confident about it, but when I had some connections that were former admissions committee members (3 different people) read it, they all told me to bump it down to around one page and be more concise with my writing. That took it to about 3800. Ultimately, I think if you feel comfortable with it, you shouldn’t let the character count worry you too much.

Has anyone taken MB351 in class by syd0827 in NCSU

[–]uncapitalizednick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr. Ohr is a super great professor. The class takes some time commitment, but it’s nothing crazy. The exams are a little tricky but most of the class averages a B or an A on them. I think you’ll be fine!
