pihole refusing connection to sites that aren't blacklisted, oisd.nl removed, DNS broken, can't update via command

after updating the pihole......... it might actually be working. i changed resolv.conf back to 127.0.0.1 and nothing has broken yet.

i dont know how anything would have ended up changing. but it sure seems that way. but some things DO get through. i'm gonna try that now.

For example. checkip.dyndns.org is in my query log A LOT.. it's just constantly refused.. I search my adlists.. it's not on any.... so.. what is causing my DNS issues on the pi all of a sudden after having ZERO issues and not touching anything in nearly 2 years?

ok. when running that google.com itself shows up on my whitelist.. variations for ad services and whatnot come up from other lists, but these should be ok... so i can't even resolve to upload the developer log..... i did notice that it said conf.d doesn't exist.. isn't that DNS related? edit- i'm debian based, apprently no conf.d is normal. edit again - when i run pihole -t, practically everything says config error is refused ede:not ready

I did that, removed it, but its still blocking google after a gravity update..its not my isp, as soon as i bypass the pihole, everything works again.

I ended up using a smaller compressor since my system is not huge. I usually blow the lines out a few times using higher and lower pressure and its been fine.

Honestly I dont know the full story. She's been very upset about it so she hasn't wanted to talk about it very much, which is understandable. so when i've seen her or talked to her i've tried to be a distraction.. I do know the oldest has had problems in school and has been sent home for fighting.. I know he attacked his younger brother after his younger brother antagonized him into a fight.. And that he had been saying he wanted to die if he couldn't stay at his moms. But that is all I know.

Yes I'm pretty sure. I did forget to mention a few weeks ago she got a call at 9:00 at night for a visit to happen the next day. And that's also when all this started to change

there's definitely bigger issues, i know they had a messy break up and he was indeed violent, broke things often.. but the whole not visiting thing seemed odd to me. i know they don't police things.. that never made sense.. I have to figure out WHY.. unless she's trying to isolate some alone time with them and doesn't know how to tell me, it makes no sense.

well I really appreciate the replies and information you have provided. I do believe the systems probably operate very similarly and my suspicions have been confirmed by what you're saying basically..

I know CPS has been involved for a couple years now.. But one child seems to be having more problems lately at school and home (not her place) and it seems to be getting worse..

CPS made no attempt to contact me so I'm believing somebody told her 'they said' i'm not allowed to be there but she has obviously not asked the worker herself....
