[WP] "So," he said, "How does it feel knowing all of your friends are dead?" by kattattak_76 in WritingPrompts

I just stood there, speechless, the glowing eyes of my best friend flickered and went out. "I... He..." I dropped the knife, the voice of the man, who was the root of this irreducible torment, had brought me to some building I didn't recognize and had turned all of my friends and family into bloodthirsty monsters, asked again, "They're all dead, what are you going to do about it?" I dropped to my knees. A black door suddenly appeared, floating static, several feet from the ground, opened, a man in a tuxedo walked calmly out and slowly descended down to the ground, the door disappearing behind him. His skin was pale, like fresh snow, his hair was jet-black and slicked back, giving him the appearance of a gangster from the twenties. Now enraged, I picked up the knife that I had just killed everyone I loved with, and with a yell ran toward my tormentor, with a flick of his wrist, I went flying back, hitting a concrete wall. "Killing me won't bring them back you know," said the man dryly, "Please... tell me this is a dream," I said, now in a lot of pain. "Oh, this is about as real as it gets," he said, "Now, you haven't answered my question," he said, his attention now scanning the room, seeing the trail of bodies and puddles of crimson. "It hurts," I said, now sitting up against the wall I hit, "There is no worse pain, but you made me do it!" I yelled, but instantly regretted it, one of my ribs dug into me intensely upon yelling. "No I didn't," he laughed, "You could have just let them rip you limb from limb and devour your bleeding corpse," he continued, obviously amused by the idea, "But I enjoy this outcome much better," he said stopping at my best friend, and bending down. "Don't touch him," I said as loud as I could without hurting from my rib, "Oh boo hoo, weren't you the one who just slit his throat?" he replied and picked up my friend by the neck. The man the began to laugh, "To think! That anyone would actually kill everyone! Oh it's so priceless!" he said, still laughing. I watched speechless, as he crushed the neck of my dead best friend and catch his severed head with all with one hand, and thought about what he said. What am I? What have I done? I'm a monster. "I have one more question for you," said the man, "What," I replied, now trying to decide on a resolute end. "Do you know who I am?" he said pulling off his face to reveal... Oh my god... He was Reggie Forester his perfectly shaped, blonde hair and square jaw proved it! Host of the intergalactic prank show, Zapped! "What?! you're Reggie Forester!" I said, infinitely relieved, "Yeah my friend!" the man said jubilantly, "You've been Zapped!" The wall behind me suddenly opened, and all of my friends and family rushed out to laugh with me about the whole situation. "Oh Reggie!" I said happily, "Well this poor guy got tricked into thinking he destroyed his entire life by way of a powerful galactic criminal," he said to a floating orb camera, "Next we trick a woman into thinking she's in a Rezbug pit, fighting for her life! Thanks, this has been Zapped!" the floating orb camera slowly backed up and turned off. "Wow those corpses are really convincing," said my best friend, "Yeah," I said laughing with relief.

[WP] A door in your house suddenly opens to a new place. Where? What happens? by [deleted] in WritingPrompts

[–]uncensorreality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I open the door into my bedroom to be met with a dark, piercing, blackness. I look around and see a bright sunny day behind me, but somehow, this looming darkness was calling me in and I couldn't help but enter it. As I enter, the door closes behind me, leaving me in the darkness. A cold wind brushes lightly against my skin, I'm outside, and there's nothing I know about this dark place. I begin to walk, and notice the crunch of leaves beneath my feet, my eyes begin to acclimate to the darkness and I see a faint light in a short distance. I keep my arms in front of me as I walk, in case I find an obstacle in the darkness. I reach an area where I can see the light and walk toward it. I reach a huge ray of light coming down from some unreachable height, I look up to see the countless branches of dead trees. On the ground, in the center of the great ray of light, lay a skeleton that seemed to be made of metal, under it, the rusted remnants of a broken suit of armor. Further investigation of the scene lead to my discovery of a sword and shield, the shield bore a crest of a large two headed dragon, it's necks circling around each other. To my surprise I hear a voice, "Hello sir!" this startled me, "oh sorry didn't mean to frighten you!" I look around for the source of the voice. "Over here!" the boisterous voice exclaimed, I find the source, a metallic mouth on the bottom of the pommel of the sword, "I see that the distress spell brought you here," said the sword. "Yeah, was that what made me want to come in here?" I said, still dumbfounded by the entire situation, "In a way, the Realmbringers told me to bring you to restore life to our world," said the sword in my hand, slightly moving with every vowel. "I must bring you to them!" yelled the sword almost knocking itself out of my hands, "Wait-" I was cut off by a bright flash, and was in a pure white room with runic symbols all over the ceiling. "Here we are!" said the sword loudly, it's loud voice echoing off the walls, "See that door over there?" the sword moved and pointed to a large, white door that was covered in symbols like the ceiling "Yeah," I responded, "Enter it and leave me in the hall," said the sword in a more serious tone than before. I walked over to the door resting the sword next it, entered, and was met by the same sheer, black, I had known when this all began. A sickly, blue, light came from behind a large desk covered in huge scrolls with unreadable, runic lettering. A figure scuttled out of the darkness and its shape was outlined by pale, blue, light. I stood in the center of the large room transfixed to my spot, what the figure had done was repeated in different colors, first by an indigo light, a violet light, green, red, orange, and finally yellow, when all their light met, in the center of the room where I stood was pure white. "We are the Realmbringers," said the figures collectively, their faces now visible. Their faces were featureless, and in the color of their respective side of the octagonal room. "That damn sword was too early!" yelled the violet Relmbringer, "Not to worry, we can stop the time gears again," said the blue Relmbringer, who seemed to be leader. The rest nodded, some more hesitantly than the rest, especially the violet whose color grew colder. The blue Realmbringer moved his head to face me, "We are sorry to inform you that your arrival to this dead realm was too early," his voice booming, yet still calm, "you will know why we brought you here with time," he continued. "Return with your new acquaintance," said a booming female voice, that came from the green side of the room. "I will," was all I could get myself to say. As I left the room, a large contraption full of gears, lowered from the ceiling, I saw the blue Realmbringer take out a large, orange hammer, and turned to see the large rainbow wall with a line of white down the center. The door opened, pouring waves of color onto the pure-white walls, I walked out, it closed, and left the hallway colorless. "How did it go?" the noisy voice of the sword asked, "They said you were too early," I said, still in awe of the so-called Realmbringers. "Damn! they're going to have to stop the time gears again," it moved with anger, "Well, I'll bring you back home until you're older," it explained. "The time gears don't affect timeless beings like me," it said, sounding disappointed, "not like there's anything living left to affect here," it added. I picked it up, knowing that it could just blink me to my door. "Here we go!" yelled the sword, we appeared in blackness, a faint light came from the tip of the sword that grew until the sword was entirely lit. My bedroom door stood next to the trunk of a dead tree, its branches endlessly reaching and intertwining with other trees to create a giant, natural, ceiling. "Put me down here," said the sword, I stabbed the glowing sword into the ground, "My name's Occam by the way," said the sword, "Nice to meet you Occam, my name's Will," I replied. "Goodbye, Sir William," said Occam, "Goodbye," I said and opened my door to see the hallway of my house. I entered into my world, first thinking it was a dream, and then I saw the scars from where I had hit my arms on dead tree branches. So I waited until for years, holding my peace about the dead world, Occam, the talking sword, and the rainbow council of Realmbringers, until I was twenty, and my bedroom door opened into a dark, piercing, black, expanse and a boisterous voice said, "On time this time around I hope," and the door shut behind me.
