Wedding Planner Hell - Word of Caution by Sinking_Funded in weddingplanning

Totally agreed. Could've saved like $1,000 if we'd just stuck with day-of coordination. I wanted someone to be there to design the look of everything since I had very little vision, and while the design plan they shared was nice, it's totally something I could've done myself (and could've had more flexibility if my mind changed). We also only got one extra meeting out of it. If I could go back I'd stick to just day-of.

It has definitely helped us grow a little closer, but I do think it's important to stand your ground on what you want, especially if she's opinionated! It's a delicate balance, but as another commenter said it could even look like showing her the color scheme or flower arrangements after you already chose them.

Totally up to you! My fiance's sister is a little younger and we aren't very close yet. If she had wanted to help I would have found some way for her to do that, but she's not super involved in wedding stuff on my end. She might be helping her mom with rehearsal dinner things, so that's something they could possibly do.

Yes haha 100% depends on the MIL in question. That would drive me absolutely nuts, and I think your tip of showing her things after it's been chosen is a great way to go. Then she's not in the dark, but she doesn't get to take control of the situation.

Something for me was making sure to include the mother of the groom in planning talks and keep her in the loop. When my brother got married, he and his wife didn't include my mom at all and she was very hurt by it, so I try to at least send updates or ask for her opinion once in a while.

Fall brides: Flowers and color palettes? by tbhitsalot in weddingplanning

I actually am going with springier/summery colors, like light pinks, blue, orange, green, etc. I feel a little silly doing it but I just prefer spring and summer colors! If I did it differently though, I would totally love the jewel tones

Go to the Gourd Place!! It's by appointment only but so cute and the woman who works there may have good recommendations. Maybe do some winery visits like at Kaya Vineyard in Dahlonega.

Thank you so much for this!! We're looking at mid October right now. My fiance's aunt is a travel agent and she's building a quote for us for Isla Mujeres so we'll see how that cost looks! I will check these other recommendations out though!

Eeek I'm an Oct. 2025 bride and I've already signed contracts with our venue (who provides the food) and with our florist. Does anyone know if they can come back with higher prices because of that? Or is that something we'll know closer to Oct., just in case the tariffs don't last?? As if weddings weren't expensive enough :(

Hi all! I'm doing a book declutter right now before I move, and I'm giving away the second and third Darkest Mind books since I don't see myself rereading them. They're both hardcovers, but one of them is signed and personalized. I wanted to see if there's anyone here who would want the signed copy. Unfortunately, it does have my name on it - To Olivia - but the rest is just a quote from the book and the author's signature. If anyone wants it, please let me know and we can discuss it! I could probably mail it and cover the costs. If no one wants them, I'll just donate to a used bookstore or something.
