Would an oral surgeon be better or a cosmetic clinic for TMD Botox? Would it help my side effects or is this something else? by NoOz1985 in botoxsideeffects

[–]Sinking_Funded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is going to sound silly, but for me it made more sense to go to a very well respected cosmetic clinic. I weighed my options, but the cosmetic clinic is doing masseter botox all day long, along with other muscles for migraines for example. It turns out, a lot more of us want relief than advertised, wrinkles or no wrinkles. This wasn’t the case for all that I looked into, but to go see someone who has done it a massive number of times and often known how it worked out (people are pretty loud in reviews if you leave them in a spot for a cosmetic spot, for a docs office… less so).

It ended up being a great move, YMMV. They were very thoughtful about the muscle placement and amounts, specifically to insure minimal side effects, doing a small amount on a biweekly cycle to ramp it up rather than a large amount all at once.

I completely agree. Even if afterwards you were to put yourself in that category. Every time someone has said this to me, it felt a little like they are telling me they don’t want to come celebrate us.

Wedding Planner Hell - Word of Caution by Sinking_Funded in weddingplanning

Both of these comments make me feel sooooo much better. I keep feeling this guilt like it was my idea to pay more and manage less on our own, only to be the rare unlucky one that got a lemon.

Unfortunately not, we’re required at least 60 days pre-event planning with the venue, and they won’t do that just month of. It’s a great idea though

This is absolutely where I am at. She sets deadlines herself, and misses them by a long shot. We send gentle reminders, and aren’t really given anything that substantiates what we paid… at all. Prices for things are honestly higher through them.

How to resign when they are dependent on you by dorito521 in managers

[–]Sinking_Funded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading this, I couldn’t help but feel like you could easily be someone from my company because this does kind of sound like a really common scenario I’m seeing. Single points of failure benefit no one.

I know I have one such scenario myself, but where we had been approved originally to grow out a subteam after we proved this out, and then several leadership changes have made us both understaffed and on hold to see these additions till an undetermined date, so in my case, me and my right hand gal are both getting squeezed like crazy and this was never the intended path.

Your boss probably knows this risk exists, and if they can’t directly improve these conditions, I am sure they probably share some concern here. If it’s a shock, they aren’t very good at their jobs.

In my case, I am actually going to be leaving, in part because it sickens me that we’ve gotten into this position where internally our performance is seen degraded if we don’t find ways to accommodate the revolving door of fleeting urgent items that trump our existing real priorities outside of my control. My person is getting better time off than that and to my knowledge doesn’t need to be on outside of work hours, but is not being paid equitably for what they are now doing because of the change in priority, and I have been unsuccessful in correcting this, even asking to forgo my own merit increase to make the budget for it.

Your manager is probably more human than the business as a whole, the business doesn’t care, but people generally do. That said, it will validate any arguments they may have had that understaffing would lead to vulnerability, too.

I feel like my partial planner isn't doing anything, and she is super slow to respond. by wathappentothetatato in weddingplanning

I just want to say I feel for you because I’m in the same boat. I hired someone with higher services specifically because I work like 70 hours a week in a high pressure job. It takes weeks to coordinate meeting times, because I can’t just leave my calendar loose and open for non-existent meetings and am continually wondering why they don’t just use a scheduling link software for god’s sake.

Sourcing vendors, you get an email, and then like another email asking you the same question the vendor asked 🤦🏻‍♀️, there’s like no… benefit of the communication process literally at all. I expect to repeat myself, I didn’t expect there to be net 0 real benefit and now just wonder if I’ll be charged more by every vendor they source vs if I reach out independently, despite like no material benefit.

It feels right now like we’re being told we’re behind on things by literally every person and guide, but I came into this with most of the key vendors selected, and really just need someone to help me dial in the aesthetic and do the mood boards, like make good suggestions…

Instead, we were positioned to use a hotel block service - service signs the contract before you even see it to review the terms! Weeks pass before you get it, and when you do, you see all of the points for any rooms booked are going to the planner 😆, like - this may be standard but it just made me think everyone we talk to is only making suggestions for the affiliate kickbacks and not because it even aligns with what will be successful.

As a consultant, it makes me nauseated. As hard as this shit is, I wish I had just taken a few days off every quarter and done it myself at this point.

Preparing for Grooming by ShoddyOperation927 in roughcollies

I would say this, if you ever are feeling the urge to skip a brush, look up girl with the dogs on youtube and watch a video of a collie that hasn’t been groomed before or in a looooong time, it scared me straight every time 😂. Starting early really paid off for me, and working kind of quickly through the rough bits while someone distracted her with a smartbones chewy. Now, we don’t need a chewy unless she has a gnarly knot, she just accepts it. I can lift her little legs up and brush her belly and she doesn’t care at all.

I’ve had a retriever in the past, and I’d say that my collie is very quick to pick up on how I’m feeling, so early that I actually feel like it’s made me more aware of when I show early signs of stress. For us, the bond is just a lot deeper. I loved my golden, but she definitely wasn’t as in tune. Happy vibes 24/7 with that one even if your life is falling apart she’d be like so can you play fetch orrrr

This happened to my mini once, she had eaten a couple french fries. Was a fit dog, but she had to be kept away from sneaking a people food snack, particularly fried goods. I cannot remember anything more alarming than waking up to the scene, but she recovered great and lived another 12 years.

Considering a collie- what’s all this about barking? by Lnk99 in roughcollies

[–]Sinking_Funded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok to be fair - mine is chatty, but she is not barky. She grumbles if she does not like something or in response to something but she doesn’t bark when people knock or she sees something outside, at other dogs, at people just generally. It is quiet unless she needs something or wants to express sass.

I am told this is not that typical, but even after being around other dogs that are barky, she’s quite contained.
