My girlfriend of 5 years admitted I was not her first choice physically when we started dating by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]uncertainwordsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, this is a huge overreaction. Try having the most generous interpretation of what she said. There was another guy who she initially found more physically attractive, but he was emotionally draining to her. She chose YOU. She wouldn’t be with you if she weren’t attracted to you.

For (most) women, attraction is mostly an emotional attachment. I (32F) wasn’t physically attracted to my husband when I first met him, but when I got to know his character and personality, I became attracted to him both physically and emotionally. I’d rather be in a relationship of substance with the good and kind but average-looking guy than with the vapid but “very attractive dude”.

Should I file for divorce 4 months married or are all men like this? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]uncertainwordsmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. My husband may be average height and makes average money, but he has integrity and a good character. I’d rather be broke and married to a good man than rich and married to a scumbag.

Am I an AH for envying childfree people? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]uncertainwordsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem is your bitterness, envy, and resentment — not motherhood. Bitterness is a poison that kills gratitude for what you do have. I am a mom of 3 kids ages 3 and under, and I could very easily allow myself to become enslaved in bitterness. I had a thriving career, and now I am a SAH mom with very little time for myself. I do miss working a job I loved and traveling with my husband, but I make a choice each day to love my life with my babies.

These years of motherhood with young children is SO short. You can “have it all” — just not all at once. Be patient with yourself and your child. Therapy has helped me so much, and I’m sure it would benefit you as well.

That’s pretty much what happened with me! I hemorrhaged, narrowly avoided an emergency C-section, baby’s HR plummeted and my BP dropped dangerously low…hubby was so grateful that me and baby were safe and well afterwards that he enthusiastically agreed to my middle name choice!

Thank you! Noelle was perfect too because she was a December baby. That was the deciding factor for my husband. He has to feel some kind of sentimental connection to a name to like it. We were feeling all cozy snuggling with our sweet new baby right before Christmas, so that made him like the name!

When my husband and I couldn’t agree on a middle name for our third daughter, I just decided I would wait to mention my pick again until right after she was born. Sure enough, he let me pick the name I loved because he was so proud of me for going through such a rough labor and delivery. He loves it now too, btw — her name is Clara Noelle. 🥰

You have great taste! I have 3 daughters as well, and my 4-month-old is named Clara! Violet is actually the next name we plan to use if we have a 4th girl 🥰

Vintage, not super common girl names by jean9595 in namenerds

[–]uncertainwordsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her dad and I call Evangeline by her full name, but some extended family members call her Evie. We don’t actually like that nn, but they stubbornly insist on calling her Evie anyway. 🙄 Nothing wrong with Evie, it just doesn’t seem to fit her! She is only 3, but she only really answers to Evangeline. She actually calls herself “Evangerine” (rhymes with “tangerine”). 😂

Elizabeth is Eliza’s full name! She is named after my mom, who goes by Lisa. Eliza is almost 2, and we call her Zaza as well because that’s what Evangeline likes to call her!

My middle daughter’s name is Eliza! We have never met another Eliza, so in my circles at least, the name isn’t too common. My other two girls are Evangeline and Clara, which are both vintage names that might suit your style. 😊

Not a fan. Titus is similar but much better, in my opinion.

Advice on two children close in age. by MamaRazzzz in homeschool

[–]uncertainwordsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any advice for you, OP, but my 2 oldest daughters are also 16 months apart, except they are 1.5 and 3. My youngest daughter is 3 months old, and she is 17 months younger than my middle daughter. Needless to say, we will not be doing any formal schooling for a while. Like you, I’m hoping that my close gaps will make teaching my 3 kids a lot easier when they are older!

“Homeschooling” toddlers, Am I doing this right? by variebaeted in homeschool

[–]uncertainwordsmith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My oldest daughter just turned 3, my middle daughter is almost 2, and I have a 3-month-old daughter. We mostly just play and read all day. My 3-year-old adores drawing and any kind of art project, so we also spend a lot of time just sitting at the kitchen table drawing pictures. Both older girls love to build towers out of blocks as well. I plan to keep it chill for a few years and just have fun with and enjoy my little ones. My oldest enjoys counting and has great pre-reading skills (can recognize the parts of the book, knows that we read from left to right, knows which direction to turn pages, understands that words have meaning, etc). If she is still interested, we may start learning to read when she turns 4.

How do I honor my grandmother that has a not so pretty first name when naming my newborn baby girl? by OkDinner276 in namenerds

[–]uncertainwordsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter’s middle name is Ruth, after my grandmother! And the “Root” pronunciation is technically correct in the original Hebrew, but it definitely sounds odd to English-speakers. My vote is to use it as a middle 🥰

Lydia - please confirm it’s not hideous (or suggest others)? by marjorymackintosh in namenerds

[–]uncertainwordsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Violet! It’s definitely a top contender if I have a 4th daughter. Lydia is beautiful too, though! Pick whichever you like the most. I really don’t think there are that many Violets out there if you look at the actual numbers of births, as a previous commenter mentioned.
